Less of a nightmare more of a horror and I don't just mean the price.

(last week, obv) "Hey kids, it's Halloween lets call at that old house. I think I can see a light on"

And just like all the classic horror film houses it's in a neighbourhood not out alone by itself in the country.
I used to live near this place in Stoke - https://goo.gl/maps/DT7MXJehRUw

In the 10 years I was there, I had heard from a few locals that it was supposedly lived in, occasionally you would see the dim orange glow of a light inside, but I never saw anybody coming or going.

It was auctioned for around £101k earlier this year - https://www.rightmove.co.uk/commercial-property-fo...

This is being built next to my brother's house, nestled amongst largely Victorian and Edwardian properties. There are some 'contemporary' properties in the area, which are quite nice. To my tastes however this seems totally unsympathetic to the area, and pretty ugly in it's own right.
No wonder it's got a huge plant room - it will overheat like nobody's business...
Not only that but that's RIDICULOUSLY strong money for that area.
Crazy money for Littlestone, which is just not the sort of place that someone buying a house like that would want to live.

Even if it was up the coast in Hythe or Sandgate, it would still be optimistic.

I remember a similar old house (wooden framed,) looking like that on the corner of a street, dirty grey ripped net curtains up at the windows. My sister and I always joked about it being haunted when we were young. Then one day we were in our parents car going past it and our car stopped in traffic just opposite it and we saw a face at the window through the ripped net curtain. We never walked on that side of the road.

I was under the impression that it was being built for a family to move in to - i.e. to their spec. It might be that their circumstances have changed/went over budget & they're now trying to recover the build costs.

It's a bit of an odd area as the newer / more modern stuff seems to command a premium over the more traditional, but in my view more attractive properties.

If I wanted to live down that way and was happy not to have the sea view I'd be looking at Ham Street. This has viable links via Ashford to London - 850K buys you this - https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prop... . Good private schools not far.

And where would one keep one's pocket watch ?

I don't mind that... it's not suitable for everyone, but the interior suits the exterior and it'll appeal to someone out there.

Not me, obviously.

The owner has taken the "Gothic" bit a tad too far but strip out all the "Interview with a vampire" stuff, would it be that bad?

I lived in St Leonards for 6 years and never knew that was there.
Straight down from there to the sea front is Azur restaurant - a great place.

I posted this in the council thread, due to the bed, but there is so much more to it.

Feast your eyes on the living room prints, the window accessed veranda, and more.

There are many...many things to comment on. However, the thing that I reacted to the most was painted scaffold 'four poster' bed. First thing that popped into my head was how bad a shape the owners shins must be in. hehe

That roof terrace with massive sides.

How utterly bizarre.

And the bed wtf.
