It's pretty obvious that it 'belongs' to one of the neighbours. Same brickwork, same window...
I'd say it probably did at one time, although it must have adjoined both sides at one time as it has doors on both sides (bricked up). The council has/had owned it since 1966.
Many years ago, I had a job where my office was above an alley lile that. I went through two pairs of leather soled shoes in about three months, because of the damp rising from below.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's why it was 'abandoned'. Too much trouble.

TBF I've seen a lot worse - I suspect they've tried to go for an art-decco/modern mash-up and fallen rather short but easy enough to resolve
I agree.
I don't think the house is *that* bad, just needs a rethink on the decoration front.
It's rather a large Art Deco property.

Should this be here on on the pawn thread?
https://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/54238960

That much space given over to bathrooms/dressing rooms would do my head in. As would the top two bedrooms having restricted headroom.
Mind you the garage is about the same size as my house so maybe i could live with it....

some of the rooms seem to have strange dimensions but (marble overloaded bathrooms aside) I quite like that - love the driveway and garage hehe

it would be better if it was clean and tidy
I think they have "tidied it" for the photos eek
Admittedly I'm late to the party on this one but that house makes me uneasy. There's not a flat surface to be seen without a plethora of ste on it

I think if you can afford to buy it, you can afford to Westernise the décor and fittings

I don't get this at all. It's a room you cannot access unless, presumably you knock through from either side. So who would want it other than who is attached to it? It has no value to anyone else, only liability, as once you own it you're responsible for it. The BBC story is rubbish on info!

Well, apparently the owner of the insurance firm tried to buy it off the council but they decided to auction it off anyway.

It’s not bad enough to be in this thread. Not good enough to be in pawn.

How bad must the front of a house look not to make it into the listing photos - particularly when the back looks this bad -

Pic 3 seems odd and lacking a focal point.....

What do they do of an evening, sit and stare at the router lights?

'The property is tucked away behind the adjoining house on Hill Lane and benefits from its own courtyard garden' suggests that that may be the main facia of the house?

I'm either blind, stupid, or both, but I can't figure where that is on the image?

Not sure about bedrooms 1 and 3, or the bar.
