Take it back whilst you can! I went through 5 Ring 2’s in 3 months, they lasted from 2 months to 3 hours, both wired and battery only. Out of them some of the chimes I had out the box didn’t work.

I’ve now updated to a Nest Hello, and so far so good...
This

Two years later, still not working 100%.

You do want a physical ringer, which it can connect to.

I found Ring great when it worked - although plenty of occasions I couldnt connect, or the other person couldnt hear me talking. It had greater rate of success when I was on 4g vs wi-fi, although still only 80% I suspect. I was on virgin broadband at the time which had loads of dropouts - I expect the Ring didnt like this and threw a fit when the signal went so didnt work when it came back.

Is Nest Hello any better? That seems to also get slated online!
So far so good! And I like that it records the last 5 days continuously. I did move one of my TP Link Decos really close to the doorbell for the Ring and kept it there for the Hello.

Bought a Ring II and Chime/Exctender from Currys for 169 this morning.
Doorbell all set up and happy, but the extender is a pain in the prov and will not connect to my wi fi.... currently on the phone with ring support and they are baffled. (wi fi channel 8)
Sure you know this already but Ring stuff only works on 2.4Ghz and not 5Ghz.
Thats probably a given though if its channel 8, channel 8 doesn't exist on 5ghz wifi, 5 ghz starts at 36.

Looks like they were going in no matter what frown

Fairly rare for an attack like that isn't it?

Sorry to resurrect! But has anyone had any issues with their ring after about a year of ownership??

I've got increasing delay on pick up of motion and notification, it doesnt even ring the external chime properly anymore.
The recordings are sometimes ok but I'm getting more and more that are either just black screen or grey.
The battery life is shocking.

I have spoken to ring support, they've changed the motion settings to see if that helps and they've blamed the lack of proper recording on my router and signal drop out (which is near by and never been moved in the time the ring has been active yet they say its signal). The router its self is only a year old too (new build so everything was put in at about the same time)

I did get a bit frustrated with the support so I've yet to tackle the other issues.

SPro do a wired model that looks quite good, plus you can hook it up to their cctv system if you have one and record locally. I don't sell that particular model as I think that goes directly to trade but I'm guessing a local installer could put one in.

You’ve not said which model you have.

I’ve had mine for over 3 years now, but it’s version 1 and hardwired to the existing AC bell wire - which also means the Ring also triggers the pre-existing internal bell. I also have “stick-up floodlight battery cam” over the back door. The “delay” is about 1 to 3 seconds from event to notification and is reliable, decent picture and great audio.

However, I have a “chime pro” sited centrally in the house and both Rings are connected/linked to it. I added it as I was getting ocassional disconnects which then struggled to reconnect - despite the router (and really good one) being less than 20ft from the front door. Once I added the Chime Pro the disconnects stopped and it now “just works”.

Ours is still going strong, purchased at the end of 2016.

I think I've charged it twice a year on average, it's exceeded my expectations, I had given it a year hehe

No dropouts for us and almost instant ring on both the phones and internal chime.

Our is the first model I think and runs just off the internal battery.

Same for me, got it in 2014 and charge about twice a year on average, never had any issues.
