That is bloody lovely. Would easily be £1m+ round my way unfortunately.

10% over budget, but this came up on my email this morning (just come on the market) and I thought it worth posting:

The house

The view

Looking back up the garden

Does appear to lack a garage currently, unfortunately.

That's beautiful.
It has a barn, so vehicle storage could be made out of that, I'm sure.
Or somewhere on your half acre garden if needs be.

Maybe a bit too much gravel for my liking, but the garage would appease me.

Also ignore the offers over £485K. No one offers over the asking price in the area I live in.
I don't know the area but that's lovely and very reasonably priced. A couple I know is getting a house in the posh end of Newcastle (yes there is a posh bit) and they are paying £600k for something a lot more ordinary than that. There are similar properties on the Tyne Valley with gorgeous views in the half million bracket. I'd much rather live there.

On the flip side, another family I know are trying to sell a house in a not so nice area. The house is impressive enough, 7 bedrooms, wine cellar, cinema room, etc. It was up for £650k and been reduced a number of times. It's now £450k! It's probably a £500k house in reality but they'll be lucky to get £400k for where it is.

Pic 7 - those subterranean spiral wine cellars aren't cheap.

That's near us - it's not a nice place - don't come here. It's horrible.

It's all about area though. This in Surrey would be silly money. Up here in the Highlands 500k buys you a whole heap!

Indeed. I was in Islington last year. A three bed flat (okay, it had a garden - small) was on at the same price as a 14 bedroom house with several 2 bed cottages and 560 acres here... with some views!

(Bought by some very nice people I have to add - now doing holiday lets and B&B >> http://www.torridonestate.com )

Dont get me wrong, I love where I live, but I wont ever get the 'dream' country pad with a bit of land and a 4 car garage around here without a serious job change or lottery win unfortunately.

That scotland house round me would be around £2m. Its just not going to happen despite earning fairly good money. My mid terrace is worth say £550k and is lovely, 4 bed and big enough to not have to move, but with the best will in the world its not what you think of when growing up as a target to aim for.

You don't get much in Munich. This 64 sq m apartment is on for €590k (£500k).

After tax and everything else, £480k would currently buy you....... My gaff!

I don't feel too bad posting it here, I don't think there any many other PH'ers looking to live in the Dutch countryside.

Amazing that the same money doesn't even buy you a shoebox in London.

Lovely house sir! Loving the lego room. Good luck with the sale!

Were I live now... http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

Back where I grew up I searched on Rightmove for £475,000 to £500,000. No results. Brought the minimum price down to £180,000 and this one was top of the list (most expensive property available in the £180k to £20m range) in my home town... http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...
