The bungalow doesn't have much kerb appeal but looks kind of okay. Until you realise the A46 is 150m from the back garden across open fields.

There must be a huge disparity within a fairly small area of land as you extend the search a few miles from that location and get a palace for £500k. I always thought that area looked good value and simply put it down to remoteness and lack of employment opportunity. There seems to be pockets that are vastly expensive and pockets that are amazingly cheap and whilst there might be very good reason for that its not as immediately obvious as neighbouring boroughs whereby one is obviously a sheet hole.

It's a bit of an accident black spot too, usually big smashes, which isn't ideal.

The village has also flooded in recent years; apparently (according to an estate agent trying not very hard to sell me a house) they opened some gate to prevent Winchcombe flooding and that caused it. I'd imagine in the same circumstances they would look to save Winchcombe again.

It's all about local knowledge, one can find utter bargains, usually a reason though.

A village just up the road from here - with a bit of haggling you'd get this for your 1/2 million

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

But there are loads around at that price point

Telford is a bit strange, for £500k you get either a really nice new build or something with "Character" for instance

and

I beg your pardon. Nothing whatsoever? Is your search radius thirty feet or something?

There's nothing there.

Peculiar place, like a load of green space in the middle of a load of sprawl, how random!

To be honest, this house has been on the market for a long time and anyone with half a mil would choose to leave elsewhere. I can see the property being torn down for development. Another house nearby has had this done, swimming pool, snooker room, the thing couldnt sell. Been razed to the floor and new houses being built.
Why would anyone tear that down!?
For the reason I posted, the seller can't sell at the price it's 'worth'. The seller might get the same price for development, if so he can sell and move on. At the mo he's stuck. Not far from here a house was bigger than this, had an indoor pool etc and was listed at £700k+ but was dropped to around £500k. Still not being able to sell, the property was pulled down and made room for a development.
TBH, if I had half a mil there's no way I would buy a property there. There's far better places in Wolverhampton - Wightwick,Tettenhall, Perton etc.

It's an ultra-snobbish area, I am sure this would be considered 'outside' even though it is just down the road.
