Hi, am undergoing a house refurb and the house is now at first fix stage. I want a decent quality wired burglar alarm without going overboard. House in the South East.

I've had the following quote from a one man band that has very good reviews on Checkatrade but doesn't seem to be Nacoss approved.

Total cost £2060 - not VAT registered

DT = DualTech

Stage 1: First fix (inc labour and 8 cores real copper alarm cable) 500.00

Stage 2: Wireless / Hard Wired / Hybrid Intruder alarm system equipment list:
01: Front Door Contact HW 15.00
02: Ent Hall DualTech motion detector HW 30.00
03: Drawing Room DT HW 30.00
04: Kitchen / Dining DT HW 30.00
05: Utility Room DT HW 30.00
06: Utility Door Contact HW 15.00
07: Garage DT HW 30.00
08: Garage Roller Shutter contact – heavy duty HW 30.00
09: Study DT HW 30.00
10: First Floor Landing DT HW 30.00
11: Fire alarm input from electrician
12: Front Entrance Designer keypad (flush) 150.00
13: Front Entrance internal speaker (flush) 45.00
14: Rear Entrance designer keypad (flush) 150.00
15: Garage internal speaker 15.00
16: Premier Elite 48 panel with wireless receiver and keypad on board and 2 wireless remote control 250.00
17: Main panel battery 30.00
18: Premier Elite Zone Expander 75.00
19: SAB External Bell Box 75.00

Labour on second fix & commissioning (in two stages if needed) 500.00

Any comments appreciated, thank you

There's really not much at all to installing an alarm system. Use good quality cable (good to see your installer explicitly stating copper cable) and half decent hardware. The majority of the effort is just running the cable, on a complete refurb that's pretty easy compared to retrofit into an existing decorated house.
It just depends on your diy skills really. Essentially all the sensors are just simple on/off switches - plus a tamper which could be either resistors on the switch wires or a dedicated pair of wires.

Would love to give it a go but unfortunately time is tight as plaster is going on at end of next week and I don't have enough free time to attempt it

Not an expert, in fact I have no useful knowledge.

But, is this the kit he is installing?
