So what does that equate to in time to heat the pool to 30 degrees?
Depends on the heater being used! biggrin Are you going air source heat pump?
Decided to just go with an oil boiler right now. May add an air pump later to save on oil. Gas wasn't an option in time for this build.
My Dad's outdoor pool was heated from the CH boiler as heat pumps weren't available back in the day.

It had a circuit that could be run with the house radiators isolated and it would take a couple of days to get a decent amount of heat into it. Using a 'bubble-wrap' style cover the heat could be maintained with a few hours a day. It was smaller than yours though (IIRC 24' x 12' x 5' deep).

He wasn't best pleased when returning from a couple of weeks holiday to find the oil tank empty because 'someone' whistle had left the heat on constantly for the whole time - water was as warm as bath water though. thumbup

One of my mates used to rent what was basically the top floor of a grand house, big gravel drive, nice few acres of ground, used for weddings and a lovely outdoor pool which we used at about 2am most Sunday mornings after a night out on the raz in old London town. One slight problem was we knew where the heating controls were which we cranked to the max on arrival and generally forgot to turn down before going to bed leaving a near steaming pool the next morning ooops.

There is a point of false economy in heating pools. Heat it too little and you never use it. Then all the money spent is wasted. Heat it too much and it becomes seriously expensive (and not that refreshing on a hot day). Where those levels are will depend on your family's tolerance for cold water.

Purely a personal preference, I aim for 27/28 degrees. The warmer the water the more chemicals etc it will consume, and will take a bit more looking after.

Nothing I suspect. It's just how many hours it takes to theoretically flilter all the water in the pool.
The time to heat the pool is down to the capacity of the boiler.

32!

At school, the pool wasn't heated, they'd let make us swim at 10c/50f, if it was sunny, 7c/45f was allowed.

28 degrees is 82.4 in old money.

90 is 32 in decimal, which is hydrotherapy pool temps!

There has been a lot of progress since I last posted pics, but I am still unable to upload any more images. confused

Basically, the plant is all in and so is the electricity. Huge thanks to Israr at Urgent Electrical and Mike at Asher Swimpool. The Filtration is already on and the water is visibly clearer after a very short period of time.

The boiler will be connected in the morning and heating will start in the afternoon.

The paving is going down rapidly and we are pushing for a Friday finish and a Saturday first swim.

I'll post pics as soon as Thumbsnap will let me...!

Well done Julian and all the teams involved. It's great to have been watching this progress and the enthusiasm that's gone it to it.

That first dip will be the most relaxing and rewarding, and most definitely deserved.

I heat mine to 29 degrees, seems to work in all weathers.
I would guess that is a good all round temp,

We recently came back from a Holiday in the Canaries, hired a villa and paid extra to heat the pool for a week, Approx £100.00

On arrival I thought the buggers had not heated it so rang the Villa manager, his response was that it was heated between 25 - 27 he himself had checked it the day before we arrived and that we just had to be braver.

Once in and used to it it felt fine but their was that initial cold water shock for a min or so, and this was in outside temps of 27c - 29c.

Nice project OP I am sure your Daughter will Love it.

Ours is usually around 29 deg, but can feel completely different depending on the outside temperature.

It's weird.

I have to reiterate what I and others have already said; well done and may you and your daughter enjoy many happy swims in the pool.

I am staggered by the progress that has been made on this in such a short time and look forward to more pictures!

I'm sure Julian will have other similarly epic projects to share; there's surely an opportunity for a "rebuilding a garden after 3 weeks of heavy plant," thread. Maybe.
