Happy Saturday everyone!

I’m home alone as everyone has gone to Norfolk with my parents. So having an early beer and relaxing whilst catching up on XJSJohn’s brilliant thread!

It’s a tough job but someone has to do it, hey Julian!

hehe

I’ll be there in 2 weeks or so, with the same picture only scaled down about 40%

(But I will naturally over-compensate like all proper blokes with the size of my beer )

Hi Matt

It became an absolute nightmare (as I was warned)!

Pine needles everywhere clogging up the filters and everything else.

We received planning permission to take it down and are about to lay slabs (we had some to spare) where the pea gravel still is.

The Worlds Worse Shed is also going at last, with a new and larger plant/changing room (which will also serve as cushion storage in winter).

Very well spotted! smile

Great thread, great pool.

Can I ask, your planning permission to remove the tree - did this have a TPO and if so what reason did you use to get planning permission to fell it? Our neighbours have a monster if a tree shedding pine needles daily on my land but it has a TPO and I want to get rid of the bugger.

Yes, I live in a conservation area so ever tree with a diameter of more than 4 inches has an automatic TPO unless a qualified Tree Surgeon considers it to be a danger (diseased).

I think you might struggle somewhat if the tree in question is not on your land, but finding a good local tree surgeon who knows the planning officers in your area will cost you nothing and get you the best result.

I have quite a bit of land (though not a huge amount) with some very mature (100 year plus) trees and my Tree Surgeon has never had any application refused and knows the planning officer (as I now do) on a first name basis.

So get a good local Tree Surgeon involved, they know the planning people very well and talk sense to them in a very informed way.

Keep us posted on how it goes!

Short of finding unicorns living in the branches, planners seem to let people do pretty much what they want to trees in our Conservation Area frown

Thanks for that, I'll ask about for recommendations on decent tree surgeon and most importantly check all previous applications to see if anyone has a high success rate.

Just for complete accuracy:

Conservation area legislation includes legal protection of all trees with a trunk/stem diameter greater than 75mm, when measured at 1.5m above ground level.

That makes me feel incredibly inferior. I might just cry now!

We Parish Councillors were debating dog poo bag distribution the other night - this is pretty high-powered stuff you know, so I know my 3" at head height pretty much off pat.

Local planners are carp though, and basically let people cut stuff down willy-nilly, which is bloody unhelpful!

Was thinking exactly the same. (Also in Norfolk)
Norfolk to yours would be a strong round trip for a very short time spent at a party frown. Shame, as it's a wonderful offer and a chance to meet a lot of PH faces.

Now THAT’s a party I’d make the effort to go to (not that Julian and Forky weren’t enough you understand...)

Cracking thread to read this and can't believe the result given the timescale. Makes my 8ft Intex easyset pool look a bit budget 😂

Hi Alun, cracking surname by the way (the same as my granny's!)

Which reminds me, since cancelling Sky (as we never used it) I need to find a way to watch the Rugby tomorrow!

I'm glad you enjoyed it, it was brilliant fun and, yes, the time scale was completely mad.

All pools are good pools IMHO. I think we both get the same amount of enjoyment regardless!

Cheers
