Ours has a single induction light at the far end and a kinetic powered LED on the inlet. It looks great at night.

Currently it is 32 degrees, the poor old heat pump is working overtime. Last week for it we reckon...

I have an 23,000 gallon in-ground marcite lined backyard pool at my home in Central Florida. The lighting is a single, bright white LED, mounted in the deep-end wall. I recently had the pool re-surfaced and tiled and did consider adding more submerged lighting, but decided against it, because 1) adding wiring and light fittings to an existing pool shell is expensive and 2) it gives a somewhat 'scattered' lighting effect and I wanted something more uniform and tranquil. It is relatively easy to swap the bulb for a different color or even a multi-colored one, but I quite like it how it is.

Lovely lighting Matt.

I have disconnected one of mine (the one at the steps end) as the pool company (not lrdisco - Nick) provided a transformer that couldn't handle the number of lights fitted and they kept on blowing.

Its loss makes absolutely no different whatsoever! smile
interesting, we keep blowing lights and had assumed it was the spagetti string for wires that they had used (recently had it re-wired with some more substantial stuff and less electrical tape, but not had any feedback on the success. hadn't thought about the transformer just being wrong ...
Check the capacity of your transformer, that may be the issue. smile

THREAD RESURRECTION ALERT!

Can we have the pool party this summer please Julian?

If so I’ll make sure to be in the UK as I think there may be some contributors who’d like to throw me in.

More importantly than that, is Forky still behind the bar, or has he wandered off again?! hehe

As we grew up, after 20 years it got a bit old and tatty and the heating needed overhauling. My parents filled it in and spent a fortune building a much bigger, better pool in an specially designed pool house that my brother, an architectural student, designed for his dissertation. It looks splendid, its big enough for proper exercise, its always warm, its got its own changing room but - and here's the rub- its 400 metres away from the house, tucked away in an old walled garden. Consequently it hardly ever gets used
I remember reading first time around and thinking that it doesn't make sense to me. Reading it again, it still doesn't.

Why does it being 400m away make a difference?

Unless one has to negotiate 400m worth of bog land to get to the pool, I'm not seeing the issue, tbh, especially with an in-situ changing room.

They can't be arsed to walk that far!

It's the downside of having a garden the size of a small county spin

Golf buggies, that's what you need...

Until about 3 months ago we weren’t totally sure whether we’d build a pool at our new place but then I broke the garden fork, 2 of the tines snapped and it was at that moment I knew it was on.

We dig it last week, currently stoning up the base before we get the foundations poured and walls built.

It’s going to be smaller than Julian’s, and it sure as st won’t be built in 3 weeks but if I get my ass into gear it will be ready for my boys 6th birthday at the end of May.

Stay tuned for the 2022 pool build, “Forky’s revenge”

After a year and a half I've finally found a contractor who's happy to take on our pool renovation. They all want the big dig a hole-style jobs, and there are plenty available, seemingly.

Just chewed through all 139 pages over roughly a week.. great thread and great contributions all round, would be nice to know how it’s looking present day. cool

As my neighbours installed an obscenely large trampoline hard against our shared garden wall for their spawn to stand on and stare directly into my garden/onto my patio; I’m very keen to see how the new topiary has grown in and how well its restored privacy to the area.

Hello again all!!!!

I've just seen the thread resurection and tomorrow will go back and read it properly.

The thing that brought me here now is that it is Chessie's Birthday today - 5 years on from the build!!!

What a 5 years it has been too. The pool has been used absolutely loads and has been incredibly beneficial for her. Of course she is no longer the 12 year old girl from the 'first contact' pics...

Meet the 17 year old today Chess...!

She absolutely LOVES the water and is a very strong swimmer... So I got a boat!!!

We have spent the last 2 months in the Algarve with her in and out of the sea several times a day! If only Forky were here to see her!!!

Cheers all, off for a Birthday dinner!

Julian

Happy birthday Francesca.
It was a challenge doing the pool for you in the time scale but also great fun.
I’m on with my latest challenge in renovating my own house now.
Not 3 weeks but 10 months.
