In my garden. Cloudy ish, breezy, but there's sun and blue sky there

Cambs/Beds border. Don't ruin it.

Same thing really if you think about it. Just a bit smaller.
I thought the big tank thing on the back of the sweepers was where all the crap went that they collected. I didn't realise you could use them to deliver water as well. I guess it lives in the smaller tank at the front (or maybe the other way round)?

Right, a busy day today. The pool people are finishing the plumbing ready for the plant arriving on Monday, the electricians are bringing the power in and Nick and the guys are still working there arses off!

I've also decided to add some up lights to the step side courtyard wall (can't do it on the other side without removing the drains.

I'll post more pics as we go through the day.

Ok. The lack of a sump has got my interest too. I've seen the skimmers - standard stuff, but is there sump/bottom drains somewhere we have not seen? While a vac/robot would deal with it - they are a bit of a hassle to use daily, so can't think that would be the soloution.

And how would you drain it in the event of maintenance etc ? I'm sure there's a sump there, we've just missed it.

Thanks for the comments everyone, always appreciated.

I planned on covering music using a very good portable speaker connected to an iPhone. This had always been more than enough on holiday. I'll think about other options though now.

I did a dedicated home cinema build a few years ago so won't be adding an outdoor one - the cost of the pool is, quite frankly, enough!

Nick and the lads will be round just after 7:00am so will be a while before there is anything to post. I'll try and dig out the photos of the home cinema build if anyone is interested. It was only a small room, but it works brilliantly!

Cheers all.
Not read further than this but have to say that if you are looking at using a portable speaker for your music you REALLY need to look at the Ultimate Ears range of portable speakers.

Mine may have visited the bottom of my spa a few times and has had a very hard life yet still has very good battery life (as in hours and hours) and i really like the sound. Okay so a bit more bass might be nice but you are never going to get any serious bass on a portable speaker. I know others who have UE Booms as well and they have been dropped from 20 foot high scaf towers, had weights dropped on them and other than one which has a small dent you would never know! Best bit is that you can pair them so if you get a couple you can have music at both ends, or link them as stereo. I honestly can't rate them highly enough.

Yep, I bought a pair of the Wonderbooms for my garden and going away, and even they for £90 each are incredible!

Thankfully I am not on a water meter!
AFAIK you 'should' inform the water company who will likely put you on a meter if you have a swimming pool? It may depend on the water company but that was Severn Trent's policy regarding my Dad's pool.

Of course what they don't know... whistle

Nice one though. thumbup

I don't think there is a bottom drain

They aren't very effective either

You will still need a robot (best thing I ever bought for the pool - and sold for good money)

Never had to empty the pool in 6 years but if you do pumps that can do 15000 lph can be had for approx £150 - chuck it in with some flexi hose

This thread is incredible, and what an amazing thing to do for your daughter. Can't wait to see the finished result. I work in Bingham, it's a small PH world!
Thank you. My wife has just got back from Bingham where someone put two and two together and worked out the pool build was happening at our house!

I hope those cables aren't live or there's going to be a big flash.

(NO GRETCHEN) Not that kind.
