I don't think there is a bottom drain

They aren't very effective either

You will still need a robot (best thing I ever bought for the pool - and sold for good money)

Never had to empty the pool in 6 years but if you do pumps that can do 15000 lph can be had for approx £150 - chuck it in with some flexi hose
Also, it should go without saying that you can't have drain suction and a pool cleaner running simultaneously anyway. Main drain is not installed to aid cleaning - it's there to efficiently circulate a larger volume through the filter.

I have a Pentair Great White robot that is run continuously with no issues and just periodic replacement of brushes and skirts. My pool remains as clean and debris-free as an indoor. Aluminum/mesh enclosure is a great help too, of course.

Pools with a main drain in the lowest part of the floor can be emptied really quickly using the filter pump with the multi-valve set to 'waste' or 'backwash', depending on the filter media.

Thank you. My wife has just got back from Bingham where someone put two and two together and worked out the pool build was happening at our house!
They wouldn't have to be Sherlock Holmes, just look for the massive lorries, cranes and helicopters (but I missed the part where the hardcore was helicoptered in)

Above it the plan area, concrete going in shortly. And below a couple more of the pool area.

It's now looking like a proper big wet hole.

(Just keeping up with the theme)

Nothing is live yet BTW.
I've always preferred a good old bang anyway to be honest.

I was at a friend's over lunch discussing plans for a two storey kitchen and bedroom extension and mentioned this thread and blogging their plans. We then went to check her pool and decided it needed a 'backwash'. This word makes me snigger every time.

Why didn't the jacuzzi pump go in the plant room with the other kit?

For water pressure reasons.

Thank you SO much for not saying "because water pressure". Thank you, thank you!

Nothing like a strong pump close to the inlet.

Great progress. The final week is going to be very satisfying seeing the finish take shape.
