The videos i Saw on youtube showed those newer impact ones driving quicker than the regular.
Likewise I wont get one as I use a drill 2 or 3 times a month. But good for the trade.

Just used my impact to drive some 150mm screws into some sleepers. Try that with a combi drill.....
Try drilling a 10mm hole in a metal sheet with an impact driver. Or drill a 7mm hole in a brick wall for a brown plug with an impact driver, or just about every other job a drill is needed for. A combi can do all that AND push 150mm screws into wood (if you know what you're doing)
Yeah I hear you.... and yes a combi will drive a 150mm into timber (just tried) BUT impact makes it way easier.

More tools... more better.... :-)
And Makita sell masonary bits for impact drivers ....good enough for Makita then it's good enough for me wink

PS. I drill sheet metal for a living day in day out - out of interest what bit do you use megaphone?

Depends really. If it's thin sheet then I use a step cutter, I usually need a 20-25mm hole. Any bigger I use a hole saw. If its steel plate or similar a decent HSS bit does it. Most of my drilling is for plugs and screws, so an SDS into the wall or combi on hammer, then plug and screw.

I do have an impact driver, this year I've used it maybe 5 times, all on DIY rather than my work. By the time I get it out of the van, I can use the combi I usually have with me already.

Oh yes! You can't have enough tools. I got a really nice Bosch 12v twin set earlier this year, mainly because the drill was small and light, great for shoving in my backpack whilst travelling. The impact driver has hardly seen the light of day! I'll have to get it out more, see if I can find some use for it!

I can recommend it for anyone who wants a compact Combi drill
