If you want a Philips that won’t break, will chase out walls and put up with almost all abuse it has to be a Stanley with the bulbous blue handle.
I’ve still got 2 of these pozi). I’m confident that they will last me forever , I must have had them over 20 years now, maybe longer.Wera (Czech-made), Wiha (made in Germany, I believe), and PB Swiss (Swiss-made) are great.
PB Swiss are easily the best I’ve used. They love their quality control: each tool has a unique serial number, so you can look up your individual screwdriver’s QC examination date on the PB Swiss website. Sadly, PB Swiss became hard to buy in the UK after 2021.
I wonder if the Stanley screwdrivers of 20 years ago are the same as today's Stanley products

Not sure of todays Stanley screwdrivers but the ones with the different coloured handles red grey/ blue / grey , yellow/ grey are top class I’ve got a drawer full and would be truly gutted if I ever lost the pz2 one. I’ve only ever broken the long terminal one and now use it as a poking tool . 😀

The ones you're referring to are maybe 20 years old? I had a full set plus some more of these, only the pozi 1 and 2 wear or break, the slotted last forever, a bit of filing on the smaller ones keeps them going.I find the current stanley pozi ones, darker grey/black handle with a highlight of blue not up to much but I do have a couple of sets of Wera as well plus hundreds of odd ones in my work hand kit box and my garage for house/garage jobs.
The ones smiffy-moto is referring to are the old 1970's/80's ones I think with all blue for philips or pozi and all red handle for slotted. My pozi 1 snapped and the 2's all wore too much but the handles were great for hammering the slotted one into painted up screws.
I didn't go all the way through the 2017 posts on this thread but one of my 'go to' places when looking at buying stuff like screwdrivers is Project Farm on YouTube. Although he's based in the US (and so we don't have access to all the brands he tests) his screwdriver test includes most of the main brands that have been discussed on this thread. Definitely worth a watch.
