Detached Victorian renovation, London.

I've currently got a 9 year old TV. Carefully placed out of reach of the kids, but the screen is still shattered. Fins cracks across the entire screen. It's not getting replaced until it either dies completely, or they're old enough to know better.
If it dies before they know better, it's getting replaced with a cheap one.

And there lies a real lesson in not letting anyone Finnish near your TV! If it dies before they know better, it's getting replaced with a cheap one.

If I am honest with myself, this pretty much explains much of my decision making processes for most of my life.
I have yet to tell Lady F about the TV. She won't notice.
I can imagine the evening:I have yet to tell Lady F about the TV. She won't notice.
Mrs F "The TV looks a lot bigger than before"
Mt F "I know, it is amazing how simply altering a room can make so much difference"
Mrs F "But it is a lot larger"
Mr F "It really does look like it, I agree. Who would have thought a simple change of paint would give such a different impression"
Mrs F "Are you sure you have not spent more money on a new one?"
Mr F "Quite the opposite, I have saved us a fortune".
Or something like that!!!

Yep. Bought the 77inch LG OLED for the TV room.
Last TV did me for 9 years (Panasonic plasma) hopefully this will be the same.
This phase of the house is costing a lot, but in this instance, I really have myself to blame.
I recently bought a 65 and regretted not buying the 75 within about 5 mins of hanging it on the wall. I could have taken it back to the store and they would have swapped it (for the uplift in cost), but I couldn't be bothered as I'd then have to move the Sonos sound bar - drank beers instead. I now regret it almost every day when I walk past the damn thing Last TV did me for 9 years (Panasonic plasma) hopefully this will be the same.

I've moved the wall forward darling, saved buying a new TV.
Job jobbed.
A tale from years ago-
We were building conservatories and fitting windows for a couple of Gentlemen one nicknamed Dodgy Carter. Not known on PH I hope. He sold mortgages to Right to buy tenants.
At work we had a widely used measurement that the bigger the tv (CRT at the time) the more chavvey the house would be.
Never let us down in Hull. Parrots flying loose and crapping everywhere to a very famous job in Scarborough.
Hi Duggie and Chris if you are on PH.
My main tv is a very classy 42 inch.
Good luck and each to their own but having a TV room?

Flash Jr is on a screen ban until she is at least two, and our TV room will not be for children: we don't watch TV with her in the room. My old plasma will go into an upstairs family room for her. So no HDR UHD for her, Paralla!
So, away from my big TV folly (and thanks to the chap who told me it is chavvy !)
Driveway taking shape. As I said, mostly gravel, but the hardstanding for one car is in tegular block paving. The guys have laid the concrete, laid the sand, and are now laying the bricks. It is looking great, I have to say.

OP posting every minute detail of a refurb, and how much is being spent and people fawning over it.
Each to their own I guess.
Some of the responses do have a touch of Flemke's McLaren about them, but that isn't the OP's fault and he's been pretty open with tips for others and about his trials and tribulations. Each to their own I guess.
Whilst in many ways it might have been better to 'disable comments' overall it's an entertaining read; if you don't like it go somewhere else.
