It isn't that close.
The motorway is also in a cutting.

I doubt if you would actually be bothered by it.

I dunno, the rumble of a motorway can be heard from miles away sometimes.

I looked at a house recently that is closer to a motorway (the M60) than that, and you could barely hear it, even inside. That said, in a quieter rural setting you'd notice it more.

Perhaps wind direction plays a part too: blowing away from your location = less noise; blowing towards your location = more noise.

Yes probably. I viewed one about the same distance away from the M23 and on that particular day it was like having a bee constantly buzzing in your ear. Not nice at all.

I'm unconvinced by the interior. A weird mix of old-person twee and slick boutique hotel (one bathroom), and a kitchen that doesn't suit it at all.

Lovely building and grounds though.

Yep. Some days will be louder than others and you'd hear it a lot more at night.

We live about 2 miles from the M20 and can sometimes hear it at night, despite the fact that there is a big hill in the way.

The Cary Grant house? Yeah, it's a bit awful. Reminds me of Big Yellow Taxi.

We’re about a mile and a half west of the M5, further south than that house but probably similar traffic levels. Normally you can’t hear it at all but during the snow, with easterly winds, it’s been noticeable. Definitely depends on wind direction and also low cloud reflecting the sound, I think.

Motorway noise can indeed be a blight. Though if you lived here the proximity of the M25 would be the least of your worries.

Wonder if I could put up with it? Lived under the Heathrow flight path all my life. Unbelievable house for £1.2 million. And when it all gets too much, you've got Staines just up the road!
