I looked at a house recently that is closer to a motorway (the M60) than that, and you could barely hear it, even inside. That said, in a quieter rural setting you'd notice it more.

Perhaps wind direction plays a part too: blowing away from your location = less noise; blowing towards your location = more noise.

Yes probably. I viewed one about the same distance away from the M23 and on that particular day it was like having a bee constantly buzzing in your ear. Not nice at all.

A village I visit is considerably noisier in the winter, during summer months a copse does a decent job of masking the A46.

Possibly. I’m not sure though. I did know about the busy road with the slightly strangely laid out gardens.

Still, where else in the area will you find a garage like that that’s “affordable?” Sometimes compromises are required.
