A couple of miles down the road from me this small valley is truly special.
That would pretty much be perfect for me. A couple of miles down the road from me this small valley is truly special.

Stumbled across this http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope... - which surely needs more kerb appeal for £4M?
Or, for the same money in the same part of the world, you could buy 44 houses: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...
God I expected that to be somewhere in London. Or, for the same money in the same part of the world, you could buy 44 houses: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...
Jesmond is quite pleasant actually but £4m to live in the toon? Can’t imagine who would spend that! The whole point of Newcastle is that it’s cheap

Whose going to buy a 4million house which doesn't even have parking for your cars? Is that a single garage on the side? looks like it, but if you click on the property details, to check for dimensions and floor plans, it brings up the details of a different property altogether....!not much in the way of décor in there really. And the quality of the current furniture in there looks like they cant afford to live there really. CANT EVEN AFFORD ANY GYM EQUIPMENT... :-))))
furniture and tat from Dunelm.
Agreed on all poinrts above.
However, I do quite like a townhouse that looks like not much from the front and turns out to be much better inside and at the back. Our last house was like this - really unassuming 1930s semi at the front, that had been renovated to a very nice standard inside.Everyone commented that you just wouldn't know what it was like when viewing from the kerb. I loved that.
We are genuinely thinking of keeping our new place a bit shabby at the front, to disguise the fact that there's a nice home behind the facade. The house equivalent of a sleeper. May well make you less of a burglary target here in Saaarf London, too?

The only giveaway would be lack of discreet parking for your luxury motors. You'd have to come and go in a sleeper car to your sleeper house.... the front and rear elevations are so amazingly different you'd think the estate agent had truly feked up the listing....

I quite agree - this is what I would describe as stonking. How much is the lottery this week? Either that or a good bet on England to win the WC and I am in!Harry Flashman said:
... Sleeper House ...
I think there's real merit in this approach, but I don't know if the "market" would support that view. If you're not planning on selling anytime though, who cares?Whilst not on the scale of (any of) the properties here, our place opens out a bit more than the front door suggests, and I quite like that about it.
I love Dartmoor, it's one of my favourite places to go cycling, and just a bit too far other than for a well planned full day ride.

Just being away from everyone sometimes appeals...
...possibly not always though. Tricky,

The night sky would be exceptional in that location, lovely to have the river there too. £1.3m is a lot to live in the middle of nowhere though...
Being able to take the dog for a proper walk and not leave your property also appeals. Not sure that this one is big enough for that, but I don't know if you ever would be able to without being in the wilds of Wales or Scotland. If you didn't want to be quite so remote, this is also a lovely part of the world...

Extremely attractive gardens and grounds including a lake, running water, orchard and paddock.
That'd do...

That Jesmond house has been for sale for ages, because I'm always browsing/daydreaming for somewhere local to live if I ever win big on the Euromillions and that always comes up and has doen for years now. It's a decentish area, especially just around the corner in Adderstone Crescent.

I do think it's overpriced for what it is, (even though that first Adderston Crescent house was up for £4.75m) I think £4 million is more Darras Hall type of money.
Fixxer-Upper for £1.7m on the same street:
