That is a very confused property IMO.

It looks like it's been decorated by each member of the family and they drew lots for who gets which room.
'Challenging' decor...I'll pass and take mine a little more traditional:

Nothing a decorator couldn’t sort though

I have a good friend who's family home was just up the road from there. We went sailing on Loch Long and out to the Isle of Bute, if I remember correctly. Lovely part of the world, nuclear protesters at Faslane excepted...

The Faslane protesters are usually a few old dears 1 day a week. Usually outnumbered by the cops at the gate smile I always give them a wave biggrin
The "peace" camp that has been going for 35 odd years is just something you drive past

That has appeared on these pages before, comments I recall about the entrance hall sex pond and wife swapping parties.

Sold for £1.4 million in 2008. Cracking investment - not!

Not sure how many of you have been to York but it's fast becoming a stag / hen destination.

The centre can look a little like the lady of Aintree thread at 2pm in the afternoon.

It's not somewhere I would be looking to move to with the family.

Last year I posted a place in Florida up for nearly $30M. I saw a gradual asking price reduction over the year to about $27M. Apparently this has now sold for only $13.5M.

That is some drop..... at least 50%. Is that normal for these mega houses? Assuming the agent advised in the value I would be fairly annoyed!!

I suppose this is proof speculative offers sometimes work.... whatever the price!

Looking at the price history they've been fishing for that price for eight years. Then they've actually had to sell and 'met the market'!

Which should give you a bit of courage to lob in a cheeky offer on this one: https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/... !! biggrin

I've been to York, but not on a weekend. Thought it was a lovely city.

I dare say you could avoid the city centre on a Saturday if you had a family and could buy a lovely house in a good school's catchment area. Besides stsg and hen dos can be educational in themselves...

York’s little different to other cities at weekends. Yes, it’s popular with stag/hen parties, but it’s hardly somewhere where you wouldn’t want to move your family to. Hell of a lot better than many cities to bring your kids up in.

The number of drink fuelled groups around the city centre on Friday nights, Saturdays and race days does cause a few problems in York

It is getting worse. No doubt about that. There has been a lot of talk by council / police about dealing with it for quite a few years now, but not much seems to have happened

It was something that was noticeable last time we stayed in York - lots of drunk groups in the city centre and on the train, especially Geordies.
We've been to stay in York about once a year for the last 10 years and it's definitely more prevalent in the last couple of years.

My son is a student in York. He says even they have stopped going out on Saturdays because it's overrun with too many drunk hen do's/stag parties yikes
