Amazing how cramped a lot of the interior seems due to the layout. And I'm always impressed by how US 'premium' interiors look so cheap & nasty. Not exactly solid either most of the time.
I guess the value must be hidden in the land because the price seems to have at least one too many zeroes on it for the house.

Something lovely on the coast of Wales near Harlech.

That's a nice house but it's not 'on' the coast nor is it particularly close to anywhere you'd want to go for the kind of leisure activity one with £1.75m to spunk on a big holiday home might wish to partake in. I say holiday home as you're hours from anywhere (which I love by the way) so unless you're choppering about you also live somewhere more connected. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/s6p/73181195

There's a quite a demand for holiday rental of large houses in that general area - rates around £5K week at peak times aren't uncommon for lesser properties. But I think it would be tough to make a business case at £1.75M, and it's not much of a life for owners who try and combine living in their property part-time and renting it out.Escort3500 said:

Visited it a few years ago (work related). It really is magnificent, if very neglected now. Hope it goes to someone with enough money and, crucially, taste to give it the love it deserves. Langton Hall, Langton, Malton, YO17

I get that, but they often live in places where there is a surrounding infrastructure to meet their needs. A nice house on its own is not enough for most people day in day out.
Except, this thread is about nice houses. It's a lovely house in a beautiful part of the world. Easy access to coast, Rhinog mountains just behind the house, and some of the country's best driving roads practically on your doorstep.
Thank fk there isn't a golf club or a cinema multiplex on the doorstep.

Current decor on here - https://www.onthemarket.com/details/5138943/ looks like someone used a Candy & Candy brochure to do it. Check out the Turkish "entertainment" room.
OMG! Mind you, there are several rooms that could be used for "entertaining". They could do with signs up to tell you where you are - as in some of the other rooms.Décor aside the house looks fantastic.

Not particularly impressive. Must be near a Premier League training ground. WhiskyDisco said:
Current housebuilding architecture and finish by the numbers. Soulless. I'm sick of the houses I've seen that all look identical on the inside.I'm inclined to agree. In fact, it's the antithesis of the previous example https://www.onthemarket.com/details/5138943/.

I'd have thought a second loo on the master bedroom would be de rigeur these days in such places. Two dressing rooms but one wc?Is the bedsit in the loft for the nanny or for a teenager?
ETA: just realised the loft kitchen is off the cinema room, not bedroom 5. The top floor still looks like somewhere your teenage kids would occupy noisily.
