The downstairs of this one looks very odd too.
We're going to have a raised kitchen, then put the underside of the stty worktop on display.

Think I've found that on the map. The driveway and lodge (not included, I guess) are nice. Not sure about the statuary....

Have we had this one yet? Seems strangely bereft of character for the type of building

Overly modernised, and mainly 'bought furniture' doesn't do it any justice.

O/T but this has to be the ultimate example of the opposite of "constructive criticism".

I think it's been done pretty well - depending on what they started with.

If it was a wreck, and all the walls needed re-plastering, and then new panelling, it's actually incredibly hard to avoid that level of finish with modern materials. Everything just ends up too smooth, square and finished and of course it doesn't have 200 years of dings and knocks. But if you don't do things like adding the panelling, the rooms look bland and wrong.

And of course, everyone wants bathrooms that work well, and if you go for a more classic style of bathroom (note, not period - because that would just be a tin bath and an open privy) then they pretty much end up looking as they do in this example.

What's been done wasn't cheap and it's been done well - as far as mainstream renovations go. To go "full period" on the finish would cost ten times as much and probably be less pleasant to live with.

They've at least made an effort with the furniture - the right kind of modern repro. The thing is, rooms of that scale just take an awful lot of filling, and if you do it with genuine antiques it takes a very long time (though not necessarily more money). The big mistake they've made with the dressing is the lack of pictures and correctly proportioned/styled curtains - but pictures make holes in walls and you're looking at around £2000 a window for the right kind of material, and there's no resale market for curtains.

Someone with the right budget who knows what they're doing could take that as a pretty reasonable blank canvas and fill it with the right sort of furniture and wall & window dressings, and it would probably be a very nice place to live.

I like barns buy that's overpriced IMO. Only an acre and it's got telegraph poles and attendant wires all over it.

^ agree - nice barn but not enough land or privacy for the price - especially as there is a house almost directly behind it! The one next door has a better plot.

That would do me.

Large garage, pool, entertaining area and views.

I don't need much more than than that.
