Yeah maybe, although most of this thread falls into one of three categories:
- Oh my god, would you look at the state of this monstrosity?
- Apparently attractively priced house that is followed up by a couple of informed posts as to why not all is as it appears
- Attractive houses, none of which ever appear cheap, so why bother talking about the price?
The first category should really be here: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Needs a bit of work (and finishing) but I could content myself with the setting
That is wonderful.
yes magnificent
If I never needed to work again (and had a decent 7-figure wedge in the bank obviously) I would be looking for somewhere just like that.
It even has an adequate broadband connection.
Thread winner there. That is just fantastic.

Fantastic part of the world too.
£1.2m for that is just insane.

Ignoring the massive appeal of living there, you would think you could put together a viable business plan for it with that many dwellings.

Far too overpriced for the location. I would never pay that for a house there.

Love that house. Like their stuff too.

No idea what the area is like but I’m guessing it’s bleak.

^ you could have a different bath for each day of the week!
(I know it is a bit further south than usual), but this place will surely act as a location for a murder to be solved by Vera...

Was thinking that myself. It looks like a Pinewood set for a Cluedo film on acid.

I assume they got all that grey paint cheap as a job lot as it's already heading out of fashion? Seriously, you can't escape it in that house! Seems like they've made a point of splashing a bit of it in every room!

ETA: it regains some points for having a room labelled 'dog wash'

Really like this one. Much better than that Perthshire one that everyone is gushing over. Yes, its a very nice location, managed to photograph it on one of the 5 sunny days a year but it only has 5 rooms done, one of them being an Ikea kitchen (so we'll call that 4 rooms done) - needs another mil spent at least.
At least this one is ready to go - just move in, unpack the bags and you're golden. I really like the décor in this too.

I really like the decor too but it's bugging me that it reminds me a lot of a weatherspoons pub I occasionally frequent. I'll submit myself to the council thread....

Move straight in with industrial quantities of paint and flooring. They even painted the outside a dull battleship grey to match the interior.

Grim.

I like that too. Default 1909 kitchen design as well (not a bad thing).

You wouldn't want to live there though. Being stuck between Peterlee and Sunderland is not a happy place - remember the beach scene in Get Carter?

Still, I got married in Seaham biggrin

I'd never make a decision to buy a house based on what colour walls are painted....

The cluedo reference is bang on. There should be a few strategically placed items in those photographs, candlestick, wrench, poison bottle etc.... the photos and room decor almost looks like a staged internet picture puzzle for an online cluedo game.

House looks lovely. And very big. If it was down south people would be saying 3 mil was cheap.

I like it too. Which is just as well as I'm having grey windows fitted this week and have got grey paint sitting downstairs waiting for me to paint my kitchen cupboards.

And now I find I'm going to be out of fashion.....nono

Which in my book is a good thing hehe

I notice this is back on the market. Last offered in 2014 for a few hundred K more.

it offers a serous amount of bricks for the money, which shouldn't need that much work (restored in the 80's and 90's).

Interesting history and I'm love with the architectural style.

It's just a shame that its not in a better location and in the middle of its own 50 acre plot.

I would hate the lack of privacy at the front of the house.

Advert says "Stunning gardens and grounds extending to about 4.5 acres"

^^^^. This. I’d take a wet Perthshire (see earlier post) any day of the week.

I'm a bit late to the Rannoch Lodge party, but I love it. It would even make me take up rowing again, what with it's own massive loch...

---

Casually sprinkling a few hounds in the kitchen is always going to win me over to the other property:

Finally, Mamhead House looks amazing in those pics. I'll have to have a read about the recent history.

My own local heap of bricks / money pit is still available too:
