I saw this place on TV the other evening, on that 'Celebrity Hunted' on C4. Kay Burley (one of those being hunted, sadly not with deadly force) owns a home on that development. I think they also said that Kate Winslet has a place there too.

Have we had this?

Lacks a few nice to have's - multiple garaging for me & a field for Mrs Fang's wish list Alpacas, but with that location & those views, sits pretty much in the goldilocks category. A bit unadventurous/unassuming compared to some of the sandbanks-lite properties nearby, but not too big, not too small, not too new, not too old, manageable land, village has a good pub, good village shop, couple of lovely little coves 5 minutes away; a spa hotel thingy to save me having to build a swimming pool & a great walk (which we did a couple of weeks ago) over the coastal path to Bantham which has a brilliant beach & good little pub.

I'd extend a proper balcony from the main bedroom to make a covered dining/BBQ area on the front terrace; refresh the kitchen (can't be doing with an Aga, sorry) & bathrooms & that's probably about it.

£13mill on Saturday is it? CF

I’m surprised the Winnet owns a house there. Burley pretty much sums it up. I thought it was a village of the South London, in love with themselves, butt plugged damned.

The idea of driving for two hours for a nice weekend away from those tossers only to arrive at a prison compound filled with them struck me as ludicrous.

It’s very much a compound for Londoners who like the idea of the countryside but are far too st scared to actually step out into it, away from their own tribe.

Far too many Range Rovers appear from London there

Er yes, good point. I suppose that's what you call a conservatory in Thurlestone. Distinct lack of oranges too, but London Rangeys wouldn't bother me - I lived in Chipping Norton for a year & that was full of weekenders. They kept the butcher & bookshop in business so I'm all in favour.

Indeed. But the Cotswolds benefits from tourism every day of the year, it’s not seasonal so local businesses and residents generally do well as opposed to places like Devon where locals have to pay London impacted house prices but only get a seasonal income benefit. I can sympathise with locals in Devon having a poorer view of the London tourist.

Probably too close to Sittingbourne for some tastes, but this has to be the grandest £1.5 million residence in the south-east.

Dont know the area, but that is a lovely property.
Bang tidy but was amazed to see it's "only" 3500 ft2 - looks like it should be more. But lovely features and finish (mostly).

Don't be coming over all logical & informed with me: this is the internet, remember! wink But yes, correct - see also other west country London-on-Sea destinations like Padstow/Rock. (Lived in Wimbledon for 20-odd years & had a theory that wherever you could get to from London for your weekend cottage getaway/bolthole/country house, had pretty much the same property prices as the London postcode you resided weekdays).

My forever/retirement/property p*rn pad has to be within walking distance of a beach, which rules Chippy out unfortunately as it had a lot of other things going for it.

The technical term is "Grokels" although my spelling may be incorrect, as I am only just being accepted. (Married a Devonian lass, one kid born here, one born in London, lived here for about 7 years in total.)

Anyway, this is in a nice part of the County, seems a sensible size, and is within close walking distance of a public house conveniently not shown on the photographs...

Interesting mix of interior decor...

Interesting. I always thought Grokels was an Isle of White term for those strange visitors who walked upright with purses that didn’t contain coloured beads and milk bottle tops.

As for Devon, once your grandchildren marry each other and your great grandchildren have a well developed, innate fear of the men from the place with bright lights, the community may look back at you and consider you as slightly local. biggrin

hehe

I'll have you know my wife's cousin was on TV just last week.

He was the ruddy faced chap who turned up with a massive tractor and trailer to deliver the bride to church on "Don't tell the bride."

I wish I was making this up.

Was it the celebrity version?

Strangled with Trev's own fair hands - at least that's what we told our London-ite godchildren. Best to be open with them when it comes to the realities of country life, I feel...
