Plenty of reasons why this Sussex pile is only £925K, but it still seems terrific value.

On the A22 and next door to a school. Also really cheek by jowl with the neighbours. I'm oot.

I bet they say that about Cathedral Close in Salisbury, too.

I suspect the traffic in Cathedral Close would be somewhat lighter and slower moving smile

But at least it wouldn't spend its time gawking through your windows!

Don't get me wrong, I don't want it. It's on a busy road, cramped by neighbours and has no land.

Other than that, it's ok. smile

Does anyone know how you can search for houses with large amounts of land - ideally 50+ acres and by price?

loving this for its location although would need it to be more than a 1 bed.

question how much roughly is it to put a road in to something like this? road + services across those fields? 100k?

That's ace.

I'd put the bathroom as a room off the living area, not an ensuite, the bedroom as a kids bedroom, and stick this one of these in the lounge, probably against the wall to the kitchen.

Perfect weekend retreat.

Fantastic location in a lovely rural area, but I suspect that the access and service provision costs would be significant. The resultant accommodation will be pretty pokey too. Nice rural bolt-hole though.

I'm liking this at the moment: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prop...

Slight concern about flooding as it's quite close to the Thames but the map view is reassuring.

It's far enough from the river, but it's overpriced and has been for sale for at least three years.

Some lovely Brakspears pubs round that area and the middle Thames is perfect for Sunday walks. That would do me perfectly. The interior is a bit hit and miss but assuming one would knock half-a-mill of the asking, usung Doofus's info, I could spend a bob or two in the inside. The gardens and situations are to die for!

Progress in Salcombe.

,

More reinforcing than you could shake a stick at.

This cramming of a big house on to a small plot isn't without precedent in Salcombe. Where years ago the wealthy bought a large plot and had a big house built and employed people to look after it all, the recent influx of wealth doesn't seem to care about the size of the garden. Anyone tempted to say maybe they can't afford a big plot should note the owner of this property has bought the plot and demolished the old house before starting excavating. He has deep pockets to be able to do that.

Try specialist estate agents. Rural Scene and Woolley and Woolley both do farms/small holdings etc

Primelocation allows keywords. I used "acres" when looking for mine, seemed to work well enough for me.
There's also property type "farms/land", but that is more farm or land, rather than house with land.

Today, I quite fancy a retirement town project:

https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prop...

The location is superb, but with limited dedicated parking it's use as a B&B or small hotel is very limited.

I'd like to make it into a nice family home, but not sure what I'd do with the rooms on the second floor.

Try UKlandandfarms They let you specify and whilst they don't have great coverage, there is the odd gem on there

You wonder why they didn't just make them terraced. No windows on side walls, looks like the gutters almost touch. Good luck getting scaffolding up the side if you needed to!

And very small gardens for a 7 bedroom family house.
