Not sure whether to post this one here or in the nightmares thread. Beautiful house a stone's throw from where I live, but appears to be set up in a strange posh HMO layout with three kitchens.

How much money is it, really? I have no concept of money (or property values) in NZ.
$33 million NZD, or £17 million.

Surprised me tbh.

So you'd need to have done quite a lot of 'black work' for the CIA then...

Another from me, not for what it is, but for what it could be.

An idea, and it is just that, that S's olds have banded about. S's Nan is getting on, and her health is going down hill a little. S's parents and Nan are also missing S, and vice versa (them London, us Notts)

S's parents house is worth maybe £1 million. They have pondered selling up theirs, and buying something elsewhere with out buildings, one to be converted for Nan, and one for us. Sarah's dad is a very high standard house builder.

They have mail....

That looks like the kind of place where a retired special forces type chap would live until a helicopter lands to get them out of retirement for one last job...
laugh Yup!

Stunnign scenery.
Stunning price! yikes

I couldn't afford to live in NZ. My wife drinks too much Sauvignon Blanc. wink

How far away from civilisation / 1993 is that? wink

Both Sarah and her parents love being isolated, no neighbours. Plenty of buildings to chose from, others could be flattened. 2 acres is more than sufficient I'd say.

It is only at the ideas stage, Yorkshire has also been mentioned. It's not property porn as such, but for what's being discussed it could be, for us.

Define parochial please for someone who is from West Wales.

The other thing to add is that I have a lot of history with West Wales, Pembrokeshire specifically. It's a stunning corner of the UK!

30 years ago Mum and Dad bought a static there, specifically Broad Haven for anyone who knows the area, maybe the poster above. Newgale, St Davids, St Justinian's & Ramsey Island, all just stunning. All not far from there (comparatively to Notts!)

Mum and Dad are now on their last van, he's 73, has Parkinson's, and he recons he'll be hanging his driving gloves in 3 years. We'd like to take their pitch over, even if the pitch fee of £6k PA is a bit 'HOW MUCH?!'

Looks like a nice area, and that property has so much potential. The relative remoteness wouldn’t deter me; it’d be a positive smile

The estate agent’s blurb is awful - no internal pics (though this might suggest terrible structural condition), and very vague descriptive text.

With deep pockets it could be lovely.

Yep, half a million plus the sale of ours could sort that! I'd presumed that there are no internal pics as it's a mess, but I'd guess (it's only that) that it's solid.

A further listing of it

https://www.countytimes.co.uk/homes/homes_for_sale...

It looks like it's Grade 2 listed.

A lot of asbestos mentioned, which is never positive, if you wanted to convert those buildings in the future

Corrugated asbestos isn't normally a huge problem, providing it isn't falling to bits!

It still requires expensive specialist disposal, though. It's only not a huge problem if you're leaving it in-situ and not disturbing it.

Things are getting easier mind. For example, our current local tip will take it. Presumably in an effort to stop people burying the stuff.

Sorry to hear about your dad.

Yes I know those areas, though I'm from a.little bit further East in Carmarthenshire. As you say, a stunning part of the world.

I've never fully understood the price disparity between Devon/Cornwall and West Wales. Demand and supply etc etc.

Parochial maybe but if you have a little respect for the history and culture of the area you'll be fine. In truth, probably no more parochial than huge swathes of rural England just with added nationalism! Best keep the politics out of this thread though and concentrate on showing our displeasure at gaudy furnishings :-)

No matter what you think Fermit, that isn’t pawn.

However, if you do launch into something like that, it’s has massive classic thread potential.
