Exactly. A short walk. Not pass out at the bar and land at home.
As for pubs changing, my pompous tool of a barrister neighbour in London was very proud of his weekend place in the same village that ours was. A nice house that he spent about 800k on and published all the bills in the Times. He was a very clever man who liked his Saturday evening ten step stroll to the lovely, quiet country pub when we could hold court at the bar with wild fascinating tales of lunch bills.
Five years on and the pub now cooks chips and other fried produce all afternoon and through the weekend with all the smells from the kitchen washing over their property throughout the summer. They also built a stage in the garden and every other weekend have a live band until the early hours. Plus, I noticed a regular bike meet had arrived over this summer when passing through. And this is all combined with the village having regular chip throwing competitions over the yew hedge with a points system for the plant pots on the chap’s patio.
It remains a lovely country pub in a lovely village but the house next door is rarely used now due to the stink in summer and the noise every other weekend and the chips just build up on the patio.
If you’re a raging alcoholic then by all means a little post divorce workman’s Cottage next to the pub that you will be living in until disease frees you makes good sense but for anyone else a ‘short walk’ is an absolute essential.

Where do you park ?
Just park in the pub carpark that's yards from your back window, and then you can look out from your upstairs windows at all the people in the pub conservatory directly opposite.I believe this is owned by Cristiano Ronaldo.
Bought by him in 2006 for £3.6 million
I’m sure he can afford the loss!

She spent some time during the first couple of months of ownership fending off various debt collection agencies who were chasing all manner of monies owed that were most likely from disorganisation rather than lack of funds.
I wonder if this property will have the same?

There's a fair chance his houses after are no better, however, he was only 24 I think when he left Manchester, so that's probably the "work" of a 20ish year old bloke.
He left ManU 9 years ago(I had to Google that,I have no interest at all!). Is it still his or has another rich ball kicker with zero taste taken it over and is now selling? Or was it empty/ rented?Doofus said:
To be fair, there's not much inside that would necessarily provoke an "It's horrible" reaction, and the exterior is surely pretty typical of the local vernacular.
I tend to agree. It’s an awful object but in reality it probably sits perfectly comfortably within local surroundings where seemingly every modest family home has undergone an extensive remodelling to convert to a pastiche of a Tesco Metro or TravelLodge. What’s most unusual is that the vendors have invested in the intellectual gent white washing of the interior and the installation of just enough furniture to do the job. It’s not that common to see a house dressed for sale.
It’s a gopping pile in a ghastly corner of the planet but relatively speaking I get the feeling it’s one of the better ones.

Indeed, I thought it was rather bland, so much so that with all the i't's horrible' comments I thought perhaps I was looking at the wrong house. Doofus said:

I admit I don’t know the local townscape/landscape context, but as an individual house it’s pretty dreadful - over-fenestrated and, as mentioned above, reflective of the Travelodge vernacular Gassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
