laugh Hard to disagree with any of the above. Owner is a living caricature, a Private Eye spoof. I'd like to have seen more of the actual house but I guess that was not part of Mr Ballon's brief.

It's a typical architects vanity project. It's a 2 story public toilet - https://sophiehicks.com/1a-earls-court-square/

Think I preferred the garages to be honest.

To me that would be like living in a prison cell.

I actually like the design but it only works when it's empty. As such it fails to fulfil the prime directive of any dwelling place, which is that not only you but also your belongings should be able to live in it.
I would enjoy the experience of sitting on one of those little concrete stickyout bits listening to Stan Getz on the stereo and savouring the 'rare quantity of light', but when reality intrudes on rather than complements a house you know it's not right.

The public toilet with a sunroof, looks like it's the set of a neo-noir movie where the protagonist either locks himself away in isolation of his own volition or is locked away by someone.

Couldn't imagine ever wanting to live in anything remotely like that.

Reminds me a bit of the interiors in Gattaca. Now that's a good film. When did it come out, three or four years ago? [checks internet] 1997!!? But I... in the cinema... with my old man... back when he was still... [pauses, deep breath] where did the last twenty-two years go?

I am looking at this on Saturday

https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prop...

Conflicted about it's value for money at the moment.

It looks like you get:

3 bedroom family home.
1 bedroom annex / granny flat.
Offices in a barn suitable to run a half decent sized operation from.

What sort of garage / out buildings does it have?

Your significant other will know whether it's "right" or not fairly quickly, then all discussions about value for money will be out the window anyway... hehe

That's not far from me, looks like good value and you may find that prices go up as and when Brexit is sorted out.

Picture 15. Looks useful.

We are currently in 5 beds with a larger garden but no outbuilding/barn/office space. Hence conflict. smile

The proximity to the road would put me off.

That (I think) is the barn; interior shown in picture 10. The roof of the house itself is to the right of that streeview image.

I think that's another house

Seems very crowded in

No mains gas either

Looks a potential moneypit and it's Grade II listed

+ shared drive (with a farmer!)

Just for fun was looking at what the most expensive properties in London were and came across this. 60 bedrooms in Lancaster gate for £26m!
Had a friend that lived near here and passed this building often.

That’s lovely. The lack of mains gas wouldn’t bother me, nor would its listing. The shared access would be a potential issue however, esp as it’s agricultural.

OP - let us know how the viewing goes smile

Aesthetically, that is very nice, do report back. For me, a house like that would have to be within walking distance of a village (pub) though.

I think Wiltshire's an oft forgotten county, overshadowed by Somerset, Dorset etc, so you can find plenty of lovely, good value places like this.
