Penrith. Cumbria has many lovely places...Penrith isn't one of them.

I know it also says they could have got more money selling individually on the street but this made me laugh.

Davies was awarded £1.3m mansion in divorce from Christine Holmes
later.....

Daily Mail said:
Experts said three full crops would have been grown and harvested - which could have been sold wholesale, in bulk, for up to £1.3 million
He could have just sold the house when he got it and saved himself the hassle and the jail time.

It’s in Maulds Meaburn which is about 20 minutes away from Penrith.

So 3 miles on the local roads then...

That'll teach me to read the advert though.

Wasn’t there a plan to install some jukeboxes to liven the place up a bit?

Yes, but it was kicked out due to difficulty in procuring 'finest' wines

It's obviously very dated, but that's a nice house. We threw up thousands of those in the inter-war years and they generally have a charm. One wonders whether the houses we throw up now will appeal in quite the same way in 80 or 90 years.

That did seem like the larger hurdle to overcome.

I will perhaps be ridiculed for posting this, but I've been looking for another doer upper since selling our last one, and this popped up;

I really quite like it. Keen money for three bedrooms, but my daughter is disabled so I'd look to convert the single garage/store room into a downstairs bedroom/wet room for her with access from the lounger/diner.

A tempting and within reach prospect.

Scarbados. I like the place, but my cousin was a police officer there and used to tell his parents (from Beverley) not to go there because crime had gone up, it having gone a bit social-housing-by-the-sea.

They ignored him and used to go to the 'forbidden city' anyway, but one day, on the way home, were pulled over by a police car; their son, giving them a bking. hehe

Agree that Penrith isn’t exactly lovely but you’d only have to go there for a weekly shop if home delivery isn’t your thing, and nearby Kirkby Stephen and Appleby are nice wee towns.

I count three, one on the back of the main house, one for the warehouse and one for the guards van. Definitely sex people.
