This one isn't for sale, but it's an interesting story...
The original house was bought in 2009 for £1.6m and immediately bulldozed. The house you see below was built on the cleared plot.
Someone's invested a lot of money between buying the original house, bulldozing and clearing it, building this house and then then there's the landscaping.
Impressive project...

A bit daft that the ovens and hob are are on opposite sides of the centre island.. no?The original house was bought in 2009 for £1.6m and immediately bulldozed. The house you see below was built on the cleared plot.

I'd place a confident bet that it was all done for an Asian, possibly HK Chinese. The wok burner alongside the induction hobs, the pair of round wood decorations, the preference for brand-new and clean and the lack of wall art.
Edit - although the Borussia Dortmund cushions on the bed are a bit odd.

The extra houses that come with it ruin the solitude side of things somewhat but I guess you could use them to escape the wife / kids if you didn't want holiday lets.

I was flicking through thinking, 'aha, no helipad' but there it is, pic 44.
Oh yes, no private island would be complete without giving you the wherewithall to plunge to your death on the way to the corner shop.Perhaps it's just me, but there's a large dollop of irony when somewhere that is advertised as a "unique private retreat...offers the perceptive buyer utter tranquillity and privacy in the fast paced modern world" comes with a helipad.
As a Devon (based) fellow, I quite liked the £4.5m offering from Tavistock earlier, but I think I'd have to view this first:
I mean, who doesn't want their own dog-agility course? (Is this a first for this thread?)

Rather superb. Very tastefully done also. One can only assume it’s under a flight path and the channel is one of the busiest shipping lanes in Europe and a cruise ship anchors off the beach every Friday?
I've been on this island - many years ago before all the property was built/redeveloped. Beautiful place and I am insanely jealous of whoever owns it.Definitely not under a flight path, apart from transatlantic flights up at 35k feet, and the largest marine traffic you get are the occasional trawlers / lobster pot men. Schull is a fishing harbour so great local fish/ seafood.
Roaring Water bay is too shallow for any large ships and full of islands so you're also safe from cruise liners- it really is that nice and unspoilt around there.
Jeremy Irons certainly likes it around there- that's his (salmon pink!) castle sticking up in photo no 49.
Of course, the weather isn't always blue skies, but a full on Atlantic storm is something to experience as well as long as everything is well bolted down .

Even if there was a road bridge to the mainland, it's still very remote - about an hours drive into Cork.

That is such an incredible prospect. It's mad to think that you can buy all that for the price of detached house in St Johns Wood, North London.https://www.rightmove.co.uk/overseas-property/prop...
