No, but it is 'different' and you generally need to have lived there for at least 30 years before you're grudgingly accepted and they stop nailing dead animals to your front door. Slight exaggeration but you get the idea. It also has that island mentality where everything happens very slowly. Largely outdated but some people like that.

There are some gorgeous properties there and the linked one is v nice but it's top money for the IOW where prices are mostly much lower than the mainland.

Not reassured. Sourdough and stabbings are only a hop, skip and jump apart in many areas of London.

How can a new house like this have such a poor-average Energy Efficiency Rating rating?

I know it is huge, but surely it could have been made a bit more efficient!

That was a Grand Design from a year or two back. Went pretty over budget IIRC. Nice though.

Great setting / position, and it all looks fab and groovy from the main image, but the rest - the room sizes and proposrtions leave it very underwhelming and in fact uncomfortable.

That 'Master bedroom' is from a Barrat home.
Snooker room is weird and the Round cinema room looks forced.

Certainly at 3 mega pounds.

I think the accuracy of EPCs is questionable.

AS a GD fan, I remember thinking how badly the detail had let down the whole. Look at the nails that have been used for the larch cladding and how they are staining, for instance. Simpler, better done would have been better I think, especially for something at the very top end of the IoW price bracket.

It's an odd place.

I used to have a boat at Portsmouth, so have spent many days on the IoW. It's a mix of tourist/unemployed/mega wealth - a bit of a sweeping statement, but that's how it feels. I have friends that live there and there doesn't seem much mixing between newcomers and islanders.

It's not a S Hole, far from it. But it's England circa 1950. Quaint in some respects.

Which, like much of London is turd desperately trying to be polished by those who would have you believe it's an up and coming place to live. It's not, it's a sthole!

This does seem to be next door to a small caravan site, but I like the house. £5m seems like a lot, but if you can afford it, you can probably afford the caravan site too...

hehe

Ahh, you never miss a chance to remind us all of your hatred for London.

On that house in particular, I've driven past it quite a lot, my gf used to live in that area. It's really not that bad an area unless you're worried about black and Asian people, in which case you wouldn't want to live in London anyway. As with the rest of the city, 99% of the violence is gang on gang, they aren't interested in passers by.

Fabulous house and location, but a bit too close to neighbouring properties for my liking.
