If you only feel like spending £3m, and you want to be in that part of the world, this is on the better side of the river for afternoon sun, the neighbour and parking situation is vastly better, and you get a bit of garden and a pool.

(It's been posted before, but I still want it.)

That's stunning. Love the layout and the views. The double height ceilings and galleries everywhere. Lots of wood, but not too much. Bloody lovely.
I was just thinking that the house is toe curlingly awful. The location looks nice though.

You'd be right. A long way from the best part of the island. Might get lucky with a dumb Russian I suppose but they prefer the mainland.

It’s Walworth, not Dartford. Walking distance to places that sell the Guardian and £6 loaves of sourdough in Camberwell.
Which, like much of London is turd desperately trying to be polished by those who would have you believe it's an up and coming place to live. It's not, it's a sthole!
Where do you live CB?
In the middle of nowhere (relatively) now thankfully.

Lived for just under 2 years in Herne Hill (which is OKish) so know Camberwell well and it is a sthole as are Peckham and Brixton despite their 'trendy' status.

hehe

Ahh, you never miss a chance to remind us all of your hatred for London.

On that house in particular, I've driven past it quite a lot, my gf used to live in that area. It's really not that bad an area....
If you say so, but it's not an area where anyone sane would pay £1m for a house.

Bitter much. Live in a stty part of london, slag all of London off. You should have got a place in Primrose Hill and then moved to Richmond for more space, that’s what we did, Loved living in London. Beautiful areas.

To be fair to cb, as much as I deeply disagree with his opinion of London as a whole (I love it to bits, my favourite place), I can't much disagree with that bit.

I don't think the area is that bad, but I also don't disagree that it would be hard to bring myself to pay £1,000,000 to live there...

Where abouts in London is he? I didn't see him reply to my question earlier in the thread.

It is a beautiful location, but the place is horribly Versace.

Is Herne Hill a stty part of London? Genuine question as I still have no idea. I hated it, Dulwich was just up the road and people seemed to rave about it.... didn't go much on that either. I was born and brought up in east London and escaped when I was 18, big mistake going back ... but out of it for good now thankfully. The property prices there are just mental .... 4 bedroom townhouses in Dulwich selling for £2m plus..... no garden to speak of, no drive, no garage, wtf? As for moving to Richmond for more space ... I have 4 acres now and can't see my neighbours... that's a proper amount of space!

I’m not sure what’s worse; the house or the agent’s hair piece.

Or the fact you'll be in the same neighbourhood as those lovely Kardashians. The agent's syrup is wonderful I agree.

It puzzles me too but on the London topic generally I think your priorities change as you get older. When I lived in London I would not have understood the concept of noisy neighbours or dirty streets. I was young and enjoying myself. Nowadays I'm not prepared to put up with either of those things and value tranquility and privacy above trendy coffee shops and a 'bohemian' lifestyle any time. Brighton is a good example too. Spent lots of time there in my youth and loved it. Now I'm pleased it's near enough for a day or night out but I'd hate living there. The other factor is work. I know there are people earning big money working out of a shed in a remote Scottish isle but most work in cities. There's a reason many people flock to the coast and countryside when they retire and it isn't that they have suddenly started to watch Countryfile or developed an interest in coastal walks.

I was disappointed when I clicked on the 'Reach Out' button (top right) it didn't play the Four Tops.
