Where do you eat?
Wherever you like, when it's your home.
Unless you want to sit as a family in a family home or have guests over.
Turn the library into a dining room?
But where would you then put your library of rare first editions? wink

You have £2m, an extensive collection of books, yet never dine as a family or have guests for dinner. It’s a niche market they’re targeting, the affluent, antisocial bibliophile, with a penchant for sheep fiddling.

That's been for sale for some years, and the current owners only bought it in 2011. There's a few similar houses in that area.

The purple carpet in some of the bedrooms is dreadful and as you say, the study is oppressive but you're not buying the leather chesterfields and most of it is neutral enough to live with. It's far from the worst interior posted on here.

Whilst killing time with Zoopla it amazes me how many 4,5,6 more bedroom houses only have single garages. Or in some cases, no garage at all! And this applies to new builds as well!

But I like this a lot. Especially the garage biggrin

Of course it's not really a £5M house. It's a £2M house built after they bought a £2.2M house and knocked it down

Not my kind of thing but the only listed house on the Wentworth estate, £30m - http://www.countrylife.co.uk/property/south-east-e...

There were two, until the owner illegally demolished the other one.

A chinese billionaire will buy it, somehow knock it down and build some gigantic french provincial in its place.

I saw this the other day - http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope... Apologies if it has been posted already.

Convenient but very pricey location albeit this house would appear to have some honest character and isn't a carbon copy of the other Mcmansions that seem to be built around here.

Still not convinced it is worth the money being asked though as can't tell whether it has all that much land. Says 1/2 acre in the description but that's not much for nearly £5 million - even in Beaconsfield.

I noticed that come back on recently. It was for sale for a very long time but then taken off the market for something like 18 months. Nothing is selling round here and no surprise - everytime I think about moving I shudder at the thought of hundreds of thousands in SDLT

Nice car turntable in the basement garage though....
Nobody spot the engine coffee table and the spitfire-esq chairs by the pool?

I'm sure they could get more lights in the kitchen and dining room if they tried just a little bit harder.

I grew up there, and my Mum still lives in our family home there (although most of our road is now full of huge, empty houses).

I can confirm that it is really, really pretty (in a manicured sort of way, rather than in a genuine countryside sort of way), and really, really boring. And even if you play golf, you now can't afford to as the Chinese bought the club and made the membership price and green fees astronomical.

As a kid, it was great - big house, a couple of acres including woods to play in. The years of teenagerhood before I got a car and drivers' licence were interminably dull. Especially as I was at boarding school and due to the nature of Wentworth (people live there for privacy) had no local friends.

Looks good from the outside and very dull on the inside. For that open-plan look I'd always prefer a Huf Haus.
