We were discussing that one last month.
The ‘wine cellar’ looks like it’s been designed by someone whose sole knowledge of wine storage comes from seeing it in a restaurant. Those pointlessly spaced out ‘display’ shelves will need removing and replacing with some proper racking. Puts me right off the place.

The room doesn’t look to be climate controlled so it’s merely for display to show off. In that regard who cars what type of racking there is?
Agree, it is only usable for display, which comes across to me as pretentious. Anyone with a real interest in wine would make practicality for their hobby the starting point (I’ve seen some beautiful and thoroughly practical cellars over the years).

No doubt the right buyer will be the sort who would take a classic supercar and display it in a glass box from which it cannot be driven, by way of demonstrating their interest and expertise in cars.

Your last paragraph is a real stretch.

Who knew wine shelving provoked such scrutiny and emotion!

If I’m gonna be splashing out on 12 bottles of blue nun and some Mateus Rose I want people to know it!

Boxed wines, that's where the real money is these days.

Easier to stack and store too.

There is nowhere to display the boxes of Gallo Family or Le Piat D’or wine, which is disappointing.

You’re right, I was getting a bit carried away there. Still think it’s pretentious though.

As wine cellars go it's not even below ground, more of a store room than a cellar. frown

I don't understand that room at all. I thought wine was for drinking, not looking at.

Especially for your Gallic friends because the French adore Le Piat D'or.

The barn conversion is cheek-by-jowl with a number of other conversions and with a massive, ugly equestrian building nearby (judging by the numerous paddocks adjacent). No thanks.

The other one is, however, quite lovely.

Neither of them do much for me but it's nice to see an estate agent take plenty of photos for a change.

Facebook pushed the advert for this to me over the weekend - but it was rather nice so I thought I'd post it:

You'll doubtless hear the A40, and Goodrich Castle is a bit of a tourist attraction, but it's not right next to the car park. The neighbours to the north would be pretty quiet except on Sunday mornings and Halloween.

Nicky was blowing 50-50 hot and cold about the “real bargain”, then she
Googled Barlborough, and a veritable ice-age descended chez nous.

HS2 route goes very close to Barlborough - it’s an interesting house (another one attributed to Smythson, like Barlborough Hall behind it).

Both seem a little blighted by neighbouring properties. The first seems to have a massive warehouse on the boundary and the second a development of bungalows. Both lovely properties, but what's on the boundary would irritate.

I can feel the ice which would be on every interior surface every winter once I run out of money to heat it laugh
