Wasn’t this on grand designs?

Yep if I win lottery tonight that’s first buy.

But I’m making those steps retractable somehow
I don't recall so, but I could have missed it?

RE the stairs, I'd imagine the problem would be that they have to retract to somewhere, and there's a lot of them!

There's nothing that I don't like about that, a great find and if I wasn't a couple of £M short..........
One of the nicest we’ve had on here for a while.
Apart from the 2 different floors in the kitchen (easy fixed) very nice. Some nice light fixtures - never thought I would see faggots hanging from the ceiling in a house!
The hack of that kitchen in a supposedly £2.5M house! They are taking the piss with that

I'm not sure 'taking the piss' is quite accurate. For a start, many buyers at that end of the market would expect to replace kitchens and bathrooms anyway, if only to modernise or make more fashionable. More sensibly, that is a decent-sized room and has the look to me of a 'normal' family kitchen. No, it's not top-end, but most families don't have top-end kitchens.
There's so much to like about that charming house that if anyone is deterred by the ordinaryness of the kitchen they probably miss the point about the whole.

It’s not a £2.5million house! It’s two houses (the barn is a 4 bed 2200sqft place).

I quite like it and can imagine it could be quite lucrative for someone wanting to run a holiday let close to home.

And there's a kid suspension system fitted to the kitchen ceiling. Useful for keeping the little darlings out of the way whilst you do the vacuuming.

It has its own vineyard. And a little pub in the garden.

It’s not a 2.5 mil house.

Looks more like 3mil to me.....

Does seem to be next door to a large working farm. Likelihood of dubious livestock smells?

Honestly, if I didn't have kids going through school at the moment, etc, I could up sticks and move to that in a breathe. I assume the weather isn't quite normally as reflected in the pictures, but that is simply a great home for the right person at a very reasonable price.

Bit of freelance work to pay the bills, walks with the dog, your own boat for a bit of fun.
Are you saying I’m a burden dad?

Having just returned from a holiday in Ireland, I think that place could be pretty bloody bleak in winter.
Yes we regretfully came to the same conclusion, some might find it handy to still be in Europe post-Brexit though.
We’re IN Europe already with dual nationality;)
Anyway, my wife advised me she’d be happy on the W of Ireland for our retirement as she loved our recent trip so much. (I don’t think that island is what she had in mind, though.)

Absolute deal breaker if the wine isn't appropriately stored to PH standards biggrin

Does she get affected by a lack of sunlight in the winter? If either of you does, for gods sake don't go to the west of Ireland, the perpetual grey misery will wear you down.

10 years in Galway has left me realising that I really, really need sunlight in my life. Even the cold, clear you days you get in the winter here are enough, they're incredibly rare in Galway. It's just grey, all the time.

There was definitely a Martello tower on gd.
They didn’t have steps at all. They parked their Range Rover under and climbed on top.
I’d say it’s definitely that one but thinking about it they all look the same

They have only had water towers on Grand Designs, there was a Martello Tower on George Clarke's Restoration Man - Series 1 episode 4 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Restoration_Man

For £10m that's overpriced for everywhere in the UK except central London.
Would fit in on St George’s Hill or Wentworth.

Nottingham though?!
There are some very expensive areas around Nottingham. My ex recently bought a 3 bedroom doer-upper down the road from there and didn't get much change from £1m.

1.5 acres and top level spec in Edwalton is going to come at a premium.

However, the place is absolutely horrendous!!!

When I was a kid I used to draw my dream cars in some detail. This place makes me think some rich chav has let his kids all do the same with their dream home - and then gone ahead and built the whole thing as one! biggrin

Ruddy hell you get a lot of house for your money in the AIDS capital of the UK. Looks decent although they stopped the refurb after the kitchens which is a shame. Main issue is, sitting on the bidet after my morning ablutions, and the postman rocks up, he'd get quite a sight!
