- It's overpriced
- It's not my style
- It's too remote
- It's totally incongruous.

I still want it.

No surf so I'm out.

I do like the house though.

That is very much up my street - I love that

A few niggles - the ovens should be together - you'd be wandering all over the place
The upstairs windows would have more window & less frame

I still love it though

I should like that. Will work out why I don't - perhaps it's the visual impact, it's a bit shouty, statementy in a way an Art Deco can pull off, but not this. A different render would improve matters, I think.

I love the area, having got married in Falmouth, and there are love great bits of that. (Love a parquet floor, even if I'm not confident spelling it.)

However, looking out at all those boats wouldn't work for me. Plus they'd be constantly "clinking" as they rock on the sea.

I like the house but seems a bit out of place there? Would look the part in Malibu though

Also, £4.5 to have a "beach" house on the Irish Sea/Channel?
Sure you could get very nice houses in the Med for that money...

This. You’d never want to go near that water apart from on the very hottest of days. Cornwall beaches have bloody freezing water 99% of the time.

Like others, I can't put my finger on what's wrong with the Cornwall place, bit too ostentatious maybe?

However at the other end of England, up here in the Dales you can have this, the complete opposite in style terms at less than half the price....

It hasn't been gutted and flooded with grey carpets, crushed velvet and wallpaper with Union Jack cushions everywhere, which so many have up here these days (that's if they haven't had a tsunami of sandstone floors, silver stag heads and tweed):

Which could be good or bad, depending on your preference:

But comes with plenty of garaging...

Yes, but if you're London-based (and therefore mental), this is accessible for weekends.

As someone who has done the drive to Cornwall probably 4 times a year for the last 15, it’s really not a weekend destination from London. It’s way too far IMO especially trying to get out of London in the first place.

Long weekend at a minimum but even then it’s pushing it. It’s 4-5 hours each way on an average run.

Your time shortens if you elect to go by helicopter. Or becomes more useful if you choose the train (my preference).

True and true.

I haven’t had the pleasure of the first but have done the second and yes it’s relaxing but it’s way slower and more expensive unfortunately than driving even a reasonably inefficient car. Have a full car of people and it’s insanely more expensive to take the train.

Absolutely love Cornwall though so won’t stop me going!

Agreed - the price of the train is offensive. I like it as you can work, move around etc. first was very pleasant the last time I did that journey.

I know LHR is a dog, but you can fly to Newquay from London

Done it. It’s actually not really quicker once you factor in everything.

With a good run on the plane you might gain an hour. Plus you then have to rent a car anyway because Cornwall has no public transport laugh

I think it's that when you get out of the bath anyone in a nearby boat can see you in the nip.

Also the window right next to the toilet, so that passers-by can enjoy watching you poop.

That said there was quite a lot I liked about that one - not just a bland grey/white box. Didn't like the kitchen though - it doesn't look like it was built to actually cook in.

A bit like the Lewes Grand Design, only without the mud and the Core-Ten rust.

For fournarf mill the fittings are good but not great, and just over a third of an acre isn't much.

Having thought about it some more I think it's formulaic. Doubtless it will look better when it's filled with identikit designer furniture. Or not smile

So much for your money in the Dales, and a lovely part of the world too.
