That's where the T.W.A.T strategy comes in - ship the family down to Cornwall when the schools break up and fly back to London weekly to spend Tuesday, Wednesday And Thursday in London
Would still rather do that somewhere in the med... Edited by CPWilliams on Tuesday 8th October 23:35

Not starting a debate about Brexit, but that might be about to become difficult post FOM. I think you're limited to 90 days for every 180-day period for non-Schengen/EEA nationals. Cornwall might be the happy alternative. Or marry a Spanish gal.
Not wanting to continue the debate... but if your job moves to Frankfurst, Dublin or Paris you might not have that issue had ham said:
I like that, and whilst it's Norfolk, with all the good and bad that that brings, I could pay for it with the equity I have in our current abode and be mortgage free, and it's not too far into London... I only do that once, maybe twice a week, so a reasonable price to pay perhaps?
That is actually very, very tempting.
ETA - BTW, if your user name is your work location, you're very close to me in Gutter Lane
I’m looking out onto Gutter Lane as I type this. Good guess, hence why I wouldn’t fancy the commute! That is actually very, very tempting.

is Cluckingham Palace finally a tasteful house in the states?
Probably not with a name like that and chicken statues. But, it’s better than some we have seen

- It's overpriced
- It's not my style
- It's too remote
- It's totally incongruous.
I still want it.

That is a lovely house and a lovely place too. Is it worth the amount - they will likely find a buyer for it so yes. I will try and sell you why.- It's not my style

Take your motor boat over to Mylor, down to Falmouth/St Mawes for dining when you want or Loe beach (watersport centre) for family activities. Have a sailing yacht moored up within 5 minutes for some coastal sailing. Have it as your summer/holidays pad or move your family down. 2 very good private schools in Truro if you have kids. Board them there 4 nights a week if you don't want the 30 min school run. Most south coast beaches (swim, kyack, paddle board) within 30 mins drive. Most north beaches (surf) within 30 mins. Chilled lifestyle, clean air, foodie culture. Tourist traffic in the summer can be a PITA but if you lived there you would not even notice. For someone not wanting southern european sun then there is a lot going for it.
5 hour train journey to London with overnight sleeper option either way Sun - Fri. Regular commuters to London live in the area. Sun night sleeper up and Thur night sleeper back. Newquay regular flights to London, Bham, Manchester, Leeds, Dublin, Frankfurt, Alicante. Need to go to New York then overnight sleeper to Paddington, Heathrow Express and on 9am flight.
If you have the money and lifestyle Cornwall is a lovely place to live and there are some lovely houses when into the high value level in the area. Prime waterfront properties in Portscatho are getting to £1M, St Mawes £2M, Feock and Restronguet Pt are in the multi £M. Lillicrap are the upmarket agent in the area and do have a lot of nice houses.

I'd be perpetually terrified that a giant Viennetta was about to fall on me and crush me.
