I quite like that, although for the price I would expect quite a lot of the farmland that it overlooks. It seems it is just the house and small-ish garden.

Agree on the location. But I think it's a real missed opportunity to do something special. The exterior to me is just all wrong, hard to put my finger on it but it's not right. The plot is way too small for the property as well & you are really hemmed in by other properties. Certainly not pawn, but could have been. I'm sure it will find a buyer though..

Looking at google maps of the house (a few years ago) I can't quite make out what it used to be because surely no one would have designed a house to look like that, one half of a house attached to a tower, it's so random. So the tower came first but what was it originally? Near the sea, lookout tower and observation tower for Napoleon/Kaiser/Hitler/Tusk?

You’re right; a huge missed opportunity. Assuming the central tower was the original building (ie no adjuncts), there was great scope for a scheme of imaginative extension and adaptation. Instead, the architect/client has gone down the ‘safe’ faux cottage vernacular route, with too many dormers, fussy fenestration and nasty Juliet balconies. Ignore the original tower, and it’s a McCarthy & Stone retirement devt. And why on earth did they not maximise the outlook from the top floor of the tower, instead of employing relatively small windows?

I like it, but the interior is soul less. No furniture, beds look cheap and placed.

As for its original use, i'd go with farming, maybe some kind of grain tower.

It was a water tower for the estate. The Rightmove listing describes the building’s history.

Shows how bad staging can make a dull looking property look almost totally unappealing.

It looks like a house being sold due to a divorce. It’s lifeless, and the current decor is dull and drab.

Lack of life, and character, is probably costing the seller a sale, maybe real money.

Looking at historical images on Google Earth, it looks like the second 'semi' was only added in 2018, so it's probably never even been lived in.

The version of google maps I saw had the later “cock n’ balls” design.

It’s an odd house in an odd location. Some of the photos make it appear that it isn’t nearly touching next door. The nice long view of the house up the driveway isn’t the house drive way! I’m also curious to know why the land behind hasn’t been developed. If you zoom out on google maps everywhere else has been.

Because the land behind is not included for housing in the Council’s Draft Local Plan 2016-2033.

It’s not in the best part of Peterborough - so kind of in its own bubble and very different to its immediate neighbours, even though it’s got enough land to be comfortably away from them.

Not a bad place.

For me, it's awful. Sprawling, in a bad way.

No flow to it, very dated. It wants completely remodelling in my eyes.
Agreed (as an aside pic 11 looks as if someone has pissed at the foot of the bed), big isn't always better. I'd prefer any of these 3...

The third one is very nice.
Third one is awesome. And suspiciously cheap, also have you ever met anybody from mexbourough.. that’s almost enough to put me off. Strange area.

Regarding the house I put up. Agree with all points regarding decoration. I guess I’m seeing the potential.
When I put these houses up it’s because I see them when going past usually when walking the dog or drive passed and see the sign then look later I happened to be in that village, it’s a nice location it’s has a pool and a good sized land.

As a rental fine, proximity to the sea wall probably means it'll stay a rental.

Looking at the erosion there if that sea defence is ever breached it won't be Bawdsey on sea it will be Bawdsey in sea

Not porn by a long stretch but I thought worth sharing just so you can marvel at the interior, and the bathroom suites in particular.

It's been on the market for ages and no surprise at that price. It's right next to a very busy main road as it leads to the M4 about 1/4 mile away so traffic is constant. Added to the fact that you would need to completely gut the interior.

This needs to be in the other thread it’s so bad.

It’s so authentic that they’ve got both originals of Gainsborough’s ‘Blue Boy’ in the lounge hehe
