So i'm looking at putting in some mains wired interconnected smoke and CO2 alarms - i was unable to find one that does both Smoke and Co2 in a wired variant.

I'm aware of the (costly) Nest Protect but not wanting to shell out that much money

Do you mean CO? I can't imagine why you'd want a CO2 alarm.

I have the nest, and didn’t think it was too bad pricewise.

It’s also not as ugly as some offerings, and the night/escape light is a good touch.

Look in to the AICO radio link stuff, they do 240v or battery.

We put it in to a lot of social housing applications as it’s so good.

Nests here, pricey but they do seem to be very nice bits of kit. Being verbally warned before the alarm is a great touch. The pathlight is also useful.

I also fit a lot of Aico in social housing. I probable fit 200 a year and get very little call back.

I have no experience with the Nest stuff, I'm sure it fine, but if there is any doubt its got to be function over form when it comes to this sort of stuff.

I wont touch the nest smokes, i fitted a load of the 1st gen version of these.

Around 50% went faulty in a year, resulting in me having to go back and replaced with Aico's.

Im sure they have probably sorted them out now, but still wont ever supply them again.

Agree with this. Had 3 installed when we had our loft converted recently.

Do nest smoke alarms comply with building regs?

Nest came out top in a recent Which test. Some alarms turned out to be next to useless.
