I'm looking for some bedroom furniture, either something grey, gloss or potentially wood finish.

I've looked at Made, Dwell, JL and M&S and also IKEA.

IKEA have something that looks suitable but i'm not sure of the quality (Hemnes range)

Is there anywhere else i should be looking. I'm looking at something around 1200mm long with 6 draws and then something around 1000mm and with 8 draws but can be higher.

Any suggestions ?

Ikea hemnes is poor quality. I remember looking at them in store and if you put a piece of paper on top of the drawers and wrote on it you'd see your writing indented on the wood.

I've fitted a few Ikea PAX units as built-ins. Nothing to complain about, especially when you consider the price.

I have a living room set from dwell consisting of walnut veneered TV stand, side board and shelving unit.

Really pleased with the quality, very solid construction and the TV unit even incorporates hidden steel box section as reinforcement.

Thats the sort of thing i was concerned about, what we have at the moment is a mixture of wood and pine which has hardly been marked in 10 years.

I have a Hemnes bed and Chest of Drawers - it feels solid enough (particularly for the price point - aside from the bedside cabinets which seem pretty expensive compared to everything else) and it all went together nicely. The wood is stained pine so I can see 'denting' from sharp objects could be a problem without much pressure being applied.

Sticks.

I was looking at new bedroom furniture a couple of years ago. I was quite disappointed with the quality of what JL had on display. The M&S looked a lot better but in the end I bought from a local retailer. I've got other M&S furniture and it's been fine.

We got all of our bedroom furniture from Barker and Stonehouse. Really nice quality and looks great. Probably worth a look.

They're only softwood so will be prone to damage.

IKEA do offer glass tops for a lot of their bedroom furniture ranges though which provide a lot of protection.

If it's wood you are after, I can thoroughly recommend Indigo. Derbyshire based (and have a shop in Tunbridge Wells), not the cheapest but fantastic quality. I am pretty sure the bed and wardrobe we have recently bought, along with the "Tequila chest" we already owned) will outlive us!

Depending on style and budget, Oakfurnitureland do some very good stuff. It's all solid wood and really good quality for the price.

I've had a few sets of their Mango wood and they still look brand new over 10 years later.

We bought some pieces from here a few years back and have been pleased with them, they are made in the UK too.. This is their oak range

Good call from previous poster about getting glass tops. I got a piece cut to size from a local glass merchant for about £20 to fit a dressing table.

Edit:
Here's the painted range

Here's what I'm interested in.

The 'Loft' was recently available in John Lewis.

This place will beat any price.

I had a local kitchen company make me a bespoke oak wardrobe, it was f'ing expensive but 20yrs later it still looks like new, genuinely, even after a house move.

Why are all these companies seemingly allergic to showing you what the inside of the wardrobe is like!?

Ikea's PAX planner is amazing, I just question the quality. I'll have to go and shove one around at some point
