Congratulations, was meant to exchange on a new house yesterday but all collapsed Thursday night after about 6 months.

Long story short, 5 people in the chain, I am in the middle.

Bottom seller has lost 2 buyers over 6 months, one could not get a mortgage despite saying they had one and the second thought prices were going to go down and revised their offer which was declined. They now have a cash buyer and still want the person below mines house.

My buyers are fine as am I and the people above which leaves the people at the top. They are downsizing to a new build in Dorset but decided Thursday night that they don’t want to be away from their grand children.

After this blow the various parties talked people and the people above me said they had seen something else they liked but have since called me today to say they decided it is to much stress and are not going to sell.

Makes me feel really guilty on my buyers as they had their heart set on my house due to the school catchment and a new job but I can’t see anything else on the market that I even want to go and view so will have to stay put.

The sooner the buying system changes the better. Rant over!

Sorry to hear that mate. It's bad enough people pulling out but doing so the night before? I'd be having kittens.

Selling: Accepted offer just before the new year. Currently waiting for buyer's solicitors to finish sorting themselves out (last I heard they wanted more details on the leasehold). Hoping to exchange soon (I've been ready for weeks).
Buyer's solicitor still not happy with the lease, management company being useless. This is getting to piss-take levels now and I'm wondering if it's going to fall through.
Never buying a leasehold again.

I'm looking to exchange and complete on the same day if possible, if not within a day or two.

3 months, BTL.
7 months, FTB no chain, no idea why.

Current, had an offer accepted this week but the deposit is based on my house selling which I put up last week ... under priced so hoping it sells within a month! 4 weeks to get the survey / valuation completed on the property under offer ...

Property is already empty (I'm in a rental) so it wouldn't be a problem in that respect. All I need to do is hand over the keys at this point.

It would have taken me about 3 months if I hadn't blown the deal. FTB (with mortgage sorted, parental guarantor ..) wanted to move into home before getting married. An ideal buyer. But they wouldn't budge another £20k. Frankly as I don't need to sell, I was willing to hold out even in this market.

Now we're moved in I don't feel like I'll jinx it anymore... Ours went pretty smoothly.

10 weeks from when we listed until we moved in to the new place.

Sold to first time buyers, bought from people moving into new build. We all used local solicitors, no hold ups, no surprises... I do count myself incredibly lucky as I was dreading the whole thing!

Good luck to everyone still stuck in the process!!

Clock started for us (again) on Monday. "Best and Final" offer accepted, solicitor geared up, AIP done (again), deposits in place and valuation next week bounce

Wouldn't be dreading it so much if I hadn't just lost 2 and a half months of my life and a few hundred quid on another place because after pushing sellers solicitor for months and threatening to pull out a deed suddenly "appeared" that completely scuppered the whole thing. Felt bad walking away but if we'd had the information we asked for when we asked for it a lot less time and money would have been wasted. We were ready to exchange, had mortgage offer signed, etc etc weeks ago pending this deed and a charge that we never did get to the bottom of.

If it goes wrong this time I'm going to give up and buy a motorhome.

Currently going through it.

We've had an offer on a house accepted, but the sellers haven't found a home. A month in and still nothing. No point at the moment in trying to push things along as we really like the house and are prepared to wait a *reasonable* amount of time. I'd be pretty miffed if this fell through as the house is pretty much exactly what we were looking for and there is no backup home thats taken out interest at the moment.

Offer accepted on the house we want to buy yesterday morning, we weren’t looking to move so put ours on the market last night, first viewings tomorrow so fingers crossed it sells quickly!

Sellers aren’t willing to wait long for us to sell so risking collapse if ours doesn’t sell quickly....

Wonderful.
