A small (but incredibly heavy) table I bought many years ago.
Just a solid lump of wood.

Love the colours and knots in it and I want to find either cladding in the same wood, or sheet veneer to go on an internal wall.

I'm guessing it is Elm.

The lower photo looks more like sycamore to me but whatever, if it's the marbled effect you like I think that's not the wood/grain but spalting: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spalting

Never knew that.
Certainly looks like spalting.

Will be renovating the lounge this year and putting in a log burner but also possibly building a chimney breast.
Quite fancied a sheet (or sheets) of veneer on the breast but want something with a bit of wow about it.

Had thought about reclaimed oak planking of different thicknesses fixed horizontally.

Beech is another wood prone to spalting and fairly easy to come by.

Are you sure it's not dog wood?
