Reworking our kitchen in the coming weeks & looking for a boiling water tap as part of that so reading this thread with interest.

Ideally looking for a matching pair of mixer tap and boiling tap. So far I've only found Quooker Nordics fit the bill. Other recommendations very welcome smile
Yep, Quooker Nordic if you want a matching pair.

Zip do a 3 in 1 (2 taps, 1 hot and cold mixer, and 1 boiling only, or boiling and chilled as 4 in 1), but only in commercial (nothing to stop you fitting this, but will cost more), also not matching, although 4 different mixer tap styles to choose from.

Alternatively, you can do a "All In One" for a Zip Classic tap (hot and cold mixer plus either boiling, boiling and chilled, or boiling, chilled and sparkling).
Or a Cube/Arc Celcius which will give you standard hot and cold mixer, plus boiling.

I'm a Quooker fan as I've had two, but interested to understand your view on what the ZIP offers over the Quooker. Is it simply the chilled and sparkling option?
At this point in time, yes, although I`m reliably informed chilled is to follow from Quooker, and then sparkling also.

Going back a few years, there was definitely a cost/snob factor between the two, although that is less the case these days.

I've just finished doing the landing up and while I had the carpets and floorboards up halfway across the house I've pulled a cable in ready for when I do the kitchen and can have one!
Nice planning chum, although a 13A switched, fused spurr is all that`s required. They don`t draw much power thumbup

Also interested in this - do Zips now *boil* ?
I know someone previously said they were good enough, but my reason for ruling it out was based on seeing it at a customer site where they refused to use it for tea, and also that it took the space of an entire 600mm cabinet (the Quooker is a 3litre flask taking up a small part of a 500mm one here!)
Quooker does take up slightly less room, although the Zip boiling only unit is only 338mm wide thumbup

As a rough rule of thumb, any of the Zip units will fit comfortably into a standard 500mm kitchen cupboard unit.

We put a quooker on our new build house last year. Combined mixer and boiling water version. I wasn’t so keen, but the wife insisted and as she is in charge of the kitchen department, I went along with it. We moved in 4 months ago.

In all honesty, I can’t understand why they aren’t standard fit in every house. Such a fantastic bit of kit. Saves sooo much time. We use it for loads of things - tea, coffee, pasta, veg, cleaning, etc etc. Kettle has been junked. I’m never living in another house without one.

Just fitting the Quooker Flex model and there are 2 flexi braided hoses for hot and cold water, anyone who has fitted them know the thread to connect to the copper pipework, i guessed it was 1/2 bsp female but its smaller than that so the 1/2 male fittings i bought dont fit?

Had a Quooker for 12 years, wouldn’t be without it. Now needing to replace it.

Looking as a standalone version with boiling and sparkling chilled - one question, what is the sparking like bubble wise? Are we talking a large bubbles or decent little bubbles like premium sparking water?

Thanks

We have a Fusion Square on order, and have specced the CUBE dispenser. My experience of the sparkling (a colleague has one) is that it is quite lightly carbonated with fine bubbles.

I'm new to this but stumbled across the below. Can someone explain to me why the prices on hot water taps vary so much and what I'd get by spending 3 times as much on a Quooker for example.

That Screwfix one says can be set to 98c which is pretty good, not many do true 100c boiling IIRC and 98c is plenty for a brew.

Yes, we got one from the boiling tap co, it was utter trash, hot, but not hot enough. We then bought a Quooker ,which as stated above is expensive for a kettle, but I don’t think that I will ever live without one again- They are superb

Not read the thread but we've had them in our last two houses. Absolutely brilliant. Not a gimmick. Immediate hot water for drinks or cooking. What's not to love?

Was debating getting a cheaper one (various out there, inc one where the ‘flask’ sits under the plinth which I thought was a great idea).
Reading about experiences here and having talked to my plumber just ditched the others and stumped up for a QUOOKER (pro3 fusion).
Only had it a few days and was telling a friend who is doing a refurb on his kitchen to spec one into the design. Really impressed with it, and hopefully it’s not a short term novelty thing!

Worth shopping about as there is some variation in pricing!!

Don’t drink enough sparkling water to justify the cost of the cube and the additional space it uses.

Only Quooker dispenses true 100°C water. They hold a patent that means they’re the only company that’s able to produce taps that dispense at 100°C.

Thanks for the replies, I saw 98 degrees and thought that was plenty for a brew so are people saying that they don't actually get that hot or that 98 degrees is not hot enough?

I might have to experiment with a variable temperature kettle to see what temperature I need if it's the latter.

We have a Clearwater Maestro, set to 98°. It's perfectly good for coffee and hot chocolate, and brilliant for all the other things mentioned, but I understand tea drinkers have strong opinions about water temperature...

IME Zip break down stupidly often in an office setting - maybe fine in the kitchen though. Clients do LOVE the look of them though.

Pretty sure the Franke ones do 100°C water, and are usefully cheaper than a Quooker.

I had a Quooker in my last house, and now looking for another boiling water tap in my new place. Probably going to get a Franke, unless anyone on here says they're terrible.

Looks good. We need one as well.
