Just to bring some closure to this thread, I submitted my first meter reading end of September and received a payment of around £3100 first week of October.

Really pleased how it’s ended, I was sure I was going to get screwed. Moral of the story is tie the solar panels into the contract so there is no doubt.
Great news!! I really hope the seller gets some good karma.

That amount for 6/7 months? I'll be honest, I always just assumed solar panels paid for your own electricity.
Might have to turn my garden into a solar farm!!

Sounds like a 3-4 year pay back. Maybe less.

I've just sent off for a quote.

A wild assumption but the OP likely has panels that were installed under an older, much higher rate feed-in tarrif.
I think that you are right, but I'll decide what I'll do when I get the quote and more info.

OP, did you take over the original FiT, or does each change of ownership start afresh?

It looks like pgh is correct. Although there are still government schemes, they are not as generous as the OP has got (unless he has a field of solar panels instead of a roof smile )

The quotes that I have had are around £9k for a 12 panel system generating 3.5kW.

The return on investment is around 4.3% (or 16 years with assumed RPI (2.97%) and electricity (6.92%) increases included, or 25 years with them excluded).

Hi all, in answer to the tariff questions, my tariff including everything works out to about 47 pence per kw/h generated. This is why I was so keen to get it transferred to me. The tariff was taken out in 2011 and runs until 2036. It probably generates around £3k per year, this summer was especially hot hence receiving so much for a shorter period.

I've just fallen lucky with the tariff as they were installed when tariffs being given out were at silly rates. If you could go back to 2011 you'd be mad not to install panels as the pay back was so fast. I dont think you can get anywhere near as good tariff nowadays.
