'Recyling centres' aka tips

I'm not convinced they're all that legit still.
Someone i know (not me), has a man with a van type business, tip runs, minor house clearance, moving stuff around etc.
I asked him what he did with all the rubbish he usually picks up, he says he takes it to 'the tip'.
I then mention about no commercial vehicles etc.
He just said he's made friends with a few of the guys at the smaller local centres, pays them a bit of cash to allow whatever he wants in, he reckons quite a few of the smaller local ones operate like this.

I was simply indicating that skip hire companies are prevalent examples of same.

Don't want to curse it, but my tip is open 363 days of the year, takes almost anything and the lads there will always help you unload your car if you're struggling. They're even quite good on potholes around here, shame that I have to live so close to Basildon to get these luxuries

When I visited the Bristol tip - permit in hand, I saw a 7.5T van pull up outside (there's a height barrier) and throw stuff over the fence to the employees, to throw in the skips.I asked him what he did with all the rubbish he usually picks up, he says he takes it to 'the tip'.

It doesn't surprise me, I've been approached by bin men offering to take loads of crap away from my refurbs "for a few quid"
