Well where's the fun in that? I was looking forward to "Help, how do a I get a crane down here to rescue my Massey"
That’s where this whole malarkey all started! I tried to drive the Massey across a few months ago...with the predictable result below when the bank collapsed. It ended up buried in clay to well above the axle sitting in the stream for two weeks. Had to ask the same chaps to lift it out with the excavator...at which point they suggested it might be time for me to let them build that bridge we’d been talking about...

Well the bridge actually got some use today! 1 minute to drive the tractor down and across it, 6 minutes of the flail mower working before the drive belt burned out and two hours of digging the tractor out of the clay bog I drove it into...couldn’t face calling the bridge builders back to tow me out for the third time. My wife earlier described my bridge as “utterly frivolous” which I thought was a bit rude...

You should have stayed indoors this afternoon and watched tv instead.

Bridge over the river Kwai was on.

You would have enjoyed that instead of getting stuck in a bog.

I think she means it is a good piece of engineering and that you didn’t cut any corners.

Have you had a look over on mumsnet for a topic about a wonderful DHWHDH with an incredible aptitude for civil engineering?

Presumably a mini-digger or backhoe attachment for the fergy is now on the 'toy' list so you can dig a land drain for the clay bog and prevent repetition? hehe

That’s amazing! I wonder if it is over some troubled water?

I must say, highly recommend a bit of flail mowing for some light stress relief! There’s obviously a mature way of dealing with 7 foot high masses of brambles; involving much brushcutting and manual clearing. Then there is getting the flails spinning really fast and reversing as quickly as you can into the mass to see how much you can take out...
