I really went for it this time and managed a personal best of £21. No idea how much it cost me to “ earn” the saving. It says I saved over 7kw during the magic hour.
How did you manage that?

I charged a Tesla battery from 20% to full, ran a washing machine for three hours and a dryer for two hours, and still only got £11.
I had my car charging for three hours, two loads through the washing machine, one through the dishwasher. I did some ironing and ran the oven’s self cleaning cycle. Then I went out for the evening at 5:30.
The additional bits were the oven self-cleaning and the dishwasher. A lot of KWhs for just two things. It just shows how "bad" some things are.

I dread to think how much the oven cleaning used. I could feel the heat coming off it way across the kitchen. It was probably still cheaper than buying one of those Oven Pride type chemical kits though.

The other absurdity is the case of a household that goes out for the whole day and turns everything off before they go. They use virtually no electricity all day, which absolutely ruins their result because of their low usage during the 3 hour on-day adjustment period. It’s absolutely crackers!
Exactly this!

I've not been with them for long and only been able to take part in the last two savings sessions - both of which have coincidentally been when we have all been out for the day when the email has come through to opt in meaning no opportunity to 'game' the system. So simply the house standing with always on things like freezer etc. during those periods meant I've got a whopping total of ..... £1.42 in octopoints across two sessions - yet guys who can 'game' are seeing £5+ a pop whilst not actually addressing the grid 'load' as such. Still, not going to complain about a small little bonus when I'm now paying half of what I was with my previous energy suppliers!

I got an e-mail off Octopus telling me that this was the last one. You may have missed the boat.

Unless you plan on starting a hairdressers that gives it free tea and toast whilst drying clothes you're not going to hit the dizzy heights of £6 savings.

You need an EV or similar electric guzzler.

Oh well.

Well, the day has come. I've just received an email to say my Go tariff is coming to an end and asking what I'd like to do.

I'm currently paying:

Peak unit rate: 13.45p / kWh
Off-peak unit rate: 5.00p / kWh
Standing charge: 25.00p / day

which is great. The latest version of Go looks crazy:

Peak unit rate: 42.46p / kWh
Off-peak unit rate: 12.00p / kWh
Standing charge: 48.66p / day

There's no way I'm paying over 42p per kwh during the day.

The only other choice they've offered me is Flexible:

Unit rate: 32.40p / kWh
Standing charge: 48.66p / day

Which I'm not wild about either - that's going to put my EV onto circa 10p per mile.

They've not offered Agile, Intelligent or Tracker, so I assume I don't qualify for those for various reasons.

Agile is available, you just have to tick a box to say you understand how it works.

Yes, I'm going to move to Agile the day before my current Go tariff ends. Hanging on to my 7p per kwh for car charging as long as possible. They didn't offer it to me, I emailed and asked about it and they just told me to sign up using a link. They only offered me standard variable or a new Go tariff at 12p off peak, 42p peak. Yeah, nah. So Agile it will have to be until prices start coming down properly and decent fixed tariffs are on offer again.

I’ve just been looking at recent Agile prices and it certainly seems to be the best of a bad bunch at the moment, so I think I’ll do something similar.

Are they still playing silly buggers with 6 months wait to get on to Tracker?
