Agile is fantastic if you can limit your usage between 1600-1900.

I was paying circa 15p at all times with E.ON. Only been on Agile for a couple of days but it’s going well so far! Massively cheaper outside of those peak times - it’s been sub 10p most of the day today.

I do have two EVs though - which skews things a little. Being able to charge overnight at super low rates is a massive savings.
Agreed, even if just for the hybrid PHEV we own, but even stuff like only running the dishwasher and washing machine first thing in the morning saves considerably.
Yeah I forgot to mention that - my dishwasher has a delay timer (and it’s nothing fancy, I guess most modern ones do?) so that was dead easy to put on overnight!

OctopusWatch is a great app for tracking the rates and working out when’s best to use your appliances.
Like the sound of that app - had a quick look

There’s a few but that’s the one I landed on. Was £1.99 or something but seems worthwhile as an easy way to see the rates!

Why wouldn't you use Octopus's own app?

The "Show half hourly rates" link provides a table of the same

..oh and it's free, obvs!

It’s a lot cleaner though and it tracks consumption and savings over a standard tariff, too.

Been with Octopus for the last 2 years, but my deal is coming to an end. Shame they don't show up in the Uswitch list of cheapest alternatives as Id happily stay with them.

I assume you are not on agile then?
I’m saving a ton - I normally turn the hot tub off for winter but it’s still on and still making a substantial saving.

Price varies every half an hour (see graph above). I’ve been on it since April and our bills are £20-25 a month cheaper.

I’m a work from home guy, and we’ve got a hot tub.

We’re saving 30% on agile over a standard tariff with ‘normal’ use. Ive just told the family no white goods on 4-7pm. Oven is still used at the peak time.

I’d love to give you my referral code so we’d both get £50 but the octopus watch app creator has one on their app and they deserve it more than me smile

Love the way it tells you the aggregated p/kWHr price. Mine is coming in around 11p.

The tariff works fantastically with a hot tub if you use it in the evening as the heater brings the temperature back up on a cheap rate.

What’s most odd is that OctopusWatch shows usage data from before I had my SMETS2 meter fitted. Usage that looks quite feasibly accurate..... so was my old SMETS1 meter actually phoning home to Octopus despite them saying it wouldn’t?

Given it a try, and you're all right - it is a quite bit more useful - thanks.

Octopus themselves said if it wasn’t a Secure branded one they couldn’t use it so they replaced it

Some SMETS1 meters can/are being upgraded to enable more compatibility across suppliers.

SMETS2 are fully interoperable.

Why they hell anyone thought SMETS1 was worth rolling out in the first place I have no idea.

12GW wind right now, windier tomorrow. Wonder if the Scottish interconnect is running?

It always is now. They had some teething trouble to start with but its been on for a while with few issues.

Looks interesting, shame it requires a smart meter.
