The noise of spraying water, I presume, and loss of boiler pressure if a sealed system.
Did a bloody good job, though, near enough bang on through the centre and in an impossible place to do any permanent repairs quickly, without lifting more boards.
Couldn't have bksed it up better myself! tongue out

Could be worse, I managed to do that the other day with a bundle of six electrical cables - straight through four of them. I don’t mind bodging the plumbing but I’d rather not mess with electrics.

Anyway, that looks easy to fix really. A good pushfit system is the Yorkshire Techtite Sprint as they’re a lot smaller than Speedfit and you’d probably have room there to squeeze them in.

I did this many years ago. 2 pipes next to one another in the same notch.

These weren't available at the time:

As a temporary fix get a screw that will be a tight fit. Wrap the thread in PTFE tape the put the screw in the hole and tighten it till the water stops. You may even be able to put the water back on.

Are you me?

I did the exact same thing 2 weeks ago!

Had just decorated my lads bedroom ready for new carpet with the fitter due in half an hour I noticed a loose board so thought I'd pop a few nails in. Should've worked out why it was loose! No markings on the board where the pipe ran though.

I heard a hissing and knew straight away what I'd done! Luckily a load of tradesmen were over the road doing an extension so we turned the water off and the plumber kindly soldered a new section of pipe in within 20 minutes. Bit of water came down the wall into the lounge but all good now.

Bit late to the party now but a cut piece of hose pipe and a jubilee clip works a treat for future reference and the bits you can normal find in the shed
