Hasn't broken down in 20 years and just the pilot keeps the kitchen nice and warm. When it ignites it's like a furnace in there. I love it and sometime I'll paint it and make a feature of it.[url]

Sorry but I can't seem to make it a vertical picture.

“Something like a Thorn m54 or possibly ideal standard” according to the old man.. take a look above and below, there should be a plate somewhere.

Something about the instructions and interior look says 'Ideal' to me.

Why hasn't it got a name on it?

I have an Ideal Elan - 30 years old next month!

The outside cover says Cavalier. The redundant control panel says Crane. It puts the gas oven to shame :-)

Why did you just say this, right at the beginning of autumn too!

It'll be fine. I won't use the heating until it snows.

I have an old coal boiler in the garage that heated the garage with 2 rads, when I moved in... bet it's older!
You have to riddle it about every two hours to get the ash out and fresh coal into it... must look for a maker's name, it's cast iron and doesn't even "ring" when you hit it with a hammer, just a solid "THUNK".
Maybe I should plumb it in as a backup, it doesn't need electricity, gravity circulation only!

So the OP is saying: 'I have a boiler with Crane Cavalier' written on it, what make of boiler is it?'
