And I asked if anyone had any opinions about alternatives to Dremel.

Alternatives? Well, I bought a Proxxon IBS/E multi tool over a Dremel and have yet to regret it

I asked this recently and got pointed at Lidl's offering. It's a big step up from the no-name corded version I had before and works fine for the little jobs I've been doing with it - mainly small grinding jobs.

Lovely - however I'm never going to buy them

For removal I always reach for the angry grinder with a slitting disc - for any suspension part - life is too short to fk around with spanners to remove rusty crap that's going in the bin and bolts that have been underneath the car for way too long

For tightening if the spanner is too thick then the angry grinder gets a flap disc and a spanner from the spares box is selected for weight loss
Wrong thread, sir. This isn’t the thread where we wreck perfectly good existing tools, and it’s certainly not the thread where we avoid buying a suitable new one…. wink

No. You need to find a Lidl and know when they might have some stock in. This will depend on when they have their power tool offers week and you getting to the store before the good offers have all been snaffled by others.

Milwaukee m12 die grinder. I have one, it's pretty good.

You can get straight or angled bodies. I have the angled one. I stiill have a corded dremel but that doesn't see much use now... Although it's handy when you need very precise speed control.

Cant have too many tools can you?!

Thank you. Actually, I think speed control will be pretty key to what I need.

Doh - sorry, I misread the question completely.

No experience, but as I have a good few Bosch 12v batteries, I'd probably go for theirs now.

Plenty available on ebay; £30 is the current normal Lidl price anyway. Make sure what arrives looks like the pics linked, as that's the up-to-date version.

Thank you. That'll probably do the job. Is Parkside any good, or is it just a white label tool?

As a 'tool' to help the lawnmowing go by a lot easier I had these for Christmas - DAB, bluetooth streaming, FM and ear defenders all in one. Excellent so far.

I have the Parkside tracksaw and random orbit sander. Both are absolutely fine - for DIY use anyway.

Any recommendations for an oil suction pump?
My joints are getting a bit creaky climbing under the car.
£15 eBay jobby good enough?
Just to come back to this, changed the oil on my car this afternoon using the Pela, took 22 mins from unlocking the garage to locking it back up again. Granted that was just the oil, no filter, but it's such an efficient way to do it. and so much better than going underneath to undo a drain plug.

Isn’t the benefit of draining from below that the flowing oil brings with it other detritus?

I bought a Pela for use on boat engines. It's great for that.

The first car I used it on, I got 99% of the oil out.
Since then, every car I've had, it leaves too much oil behind for my liking.
