I think I've got my head around this.
Awful phone sketch incoming...
So top left is what I want. Bottom right is I think what you're suggesting - cut at 40 degrees from the 'waste' side, allowing the 1.8mm saw kerf in addition to the desired length?
That'll give me the 140 degree target angle (in blue)?
If so, I'll have to do a bit of trigonometry to figure out the length I'm cutting, as I know the inside length but not currently the outside.
Exactly this. I'd do a test cut on some old batten for fit before committing to the actual panel.Awful phone sketch incoming...

Anyone recommend a decent corded planer?
Will be used to plane a joist down so I don't have hump in the middle of the floor and shaving down some new doors. Will be connected to hoover with power take off.
I used a belt sander with some 40 grit on it to level off a joist, because unlike the plane it would tolerate the grit and metal lurking in the old joist. Obviously if the joist is newer & clean then a plane will be happy. Will be used to plane a joist down so I don't have hump in the middle of the floor and shaving down some new doors. Will be connected to hoover with power take off.
'Decent' varies and there's a lot to choose from, Makita have loads of models for example.

I have had blue Bosch (can’t remember the numbers on it now) all my life for work, 110v obviously but 240v is the same, even when some Poles had mine away I replaced it with like for like however the other year I borrowed a mates Dewalt 110v, had Dewalt kit before but never thought it was as good as Bosch or makita but that planer was head and shoulders over a Bosch. Will be used to plane a joist down so I don't have hump in the middle of the floor and shaving down some new doors. Don’t know the number but it took off up to 5mm I think, a lot more than the usual 3mm Bosch and makita do.
It also had a proper plastic cylinder bag on the side and not a cloth one.
Do yourself a favour, always go corded for planers, I’ve had battery before but I might as well have used my jack or block plane. They’re only good for easing internal non fire doors IMO.
This looks like the current model

Man maths...........
Subtract .............
Subtract the value of 2 free batteries from Makita (OK I don't get the pouch)............
Equals a bargain for a good top handle chainsaw for 127 quid?
PS. This is practice on you before I tell Wifey what I've done

I was looking at the same chainsaw a couple of months ago but passed as it was a bit more than I needed. But at a cost of only £127(!) I could be persuaded. Do please post once you've got it on how good it is, so I can persuade myself that it's an essential purchase!

I've used the bargain basement version for planing down a bunch of oak pieces prior to making outdoor stools £70. All I needed for a quick ish job

That’s not bad kit to be honest, up to 4mm so decent motor on it.https://www.screwfix.com/p/erbauer-ehp1050-4mm-ele...
I’ve got their multi tool and it’s had a lot of abuse but never fails when needed, only gripe with Erbauer is there’s no 110v option.

Define affordable...
Look for coil nailers - something like this - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394182155369 or https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002884275703.h...
Be aware Vevor is just rebadged chinese kit, but my BeA 550DC Coil Nailer (UK Supplier) is effectively just Chinese in origin. If you buy from AliExpress, don't forget to add the VAT to the price shown.

Why would you need 110v these days?
Still law on site and I would never swing 18 fire doors a day with a battery planer, they can't take as much off in one pass (been there, done that) as a corded one.Cordless is good for lots of kit, but chop saw, routers and planers corded still beats it. My opinion and another joiner would disagree, that is what makes the world tick.
